Yes. If the goal is an instant mute and then return to previous volume setting, it is a significant inconvenience. The flick of a switch/button on the steering wheel (not reaching over to the dash screen) is way more efficient.

I'll be fine with the lack of functionality, but much like me trying to set a phantom parking brake with my foot, it will take me a while to not reach for the missing mute button. :)
Just push the volume button in. Then press it a second time to resume at your previous setting. Is that not a definition of a "mute" button???

I get it, I get it. Not trying to be dense here. I'll give it a shot and see how it feels. I assumed that turning off the tuner would make it more of a hassle when turning back on. But maybe not. I still stand by my claim that it is more complicated and distracting than a quick finger movement on my left hand, which is already on the steering wheel. Versus needing to glance/reach over with my right hand to push the volume knob below the entertainment screen. Fully aware this is suuuuuuper "complainey" and totally a first world problem. Hahaha. I don't actually care that much. If I had not had the feature on the crappy 2010 minivan I traded in, I would probably not even be asking the question. So it is mostly one of those "new vehicle is different than old vehicle" adjustment things.

👍🏻 Ok.

My "main gripe" is no manual control of heating and cooling. The truck thinks it knows better than me when the A/C should run. 🤬 Another of those new vehicle adjustments.🤷🏻‍♂️

My lariat has a mute button on the steering wheel. I barely ever use it though (maybe out of habit since my old car didn't have one). Spinning the volume dial down takes half a second
Same here. Takes longer to look down at the wheel and determine which button is mute.

On my "testing" this AM the switch build quality of the center button "mute" on the volume knob was better than the steering wheel button.

The steering wheel button did not function every time. About one out of four attempts required multiple presses to complete the circuit and actually mute the sound.

A tap of the center of the volume wheel mutes the sound first try, every time. It is a true mute. Instant off. Instant on. More reliable in mine than the steering wheel button. Functionally the same. You're not missing much.

It does not turn off anything but the sound. The screen, the navigation, all the rest of functions stay on and active. There is a separate button to turn off the screen.

I don't know why it's not labeled as mute. It should be.

Also, one can merely press the middle of the volume button. That mutes everything.

This is becoming more and more clear to me. I am going to test it out later. Just finished installing the most confusing rack system ever. So I need a mental break. Haha.

Sounds as though you earned it.
