My whirlpool Duet washer and dryer were great for actually 22 years. Guy who set up the Maytag's said, "you won't get that of any appliance made today"

Yeah I believe it. These are all about five years old now so that tracks!
I just don’t remember my parents buying new appliances every 8 years! Not sure what’s changed in the last 15-20 years but it is sad.

Not sure how I missed this, but apparently GE sold their home appliance business to Chinese based Haier back around 2016 or so. Really disappointed to find this out. Have bought GE appliances for years.....never again. We were searching for a new laundry pair, and discovered this, so thought I'd share in case anyone else didn't know or cares.

Anyone have any recommendations on a laundry pair?

Speed Queen Commercial - at least the washers. Built like a tank in Ripon, WI.

In addition to GE/Haier, do not buy Samsung. I had a Samsung FL washer that crapped out at around the 5 year mark. Bearings in the drum wore out. The guy that delivered & setup the SpeedQueen to replace the Samsung said Samsungs were made to fail. His box truck was full of dead, but not-that-old, Samsung washers

As of a few hours ago on a BNSF train nearing Chicago, where I am assuming it transfers to CSX to Worcester, MA.

Good luck with LG, their compressor problems with French Door fridges had me replacing a 2 year old unit after multiple attempts to repair. Ate the $3K cost and got a ,,,,,,,,,, GE.

At least you are getting close. I know it takes a while to get cross country. Fortunately for me, TX is not that far from Hermissilo, so mine took only 4 days to get to the Dallas area railyard, then 4 more days to get to dealer. In a couple of weeks we should see some pics.

^^^This! I worked for a company called CoinMach that rented and serviced commercial Speed Queen washers and dryers for apartment complexes. I started out as a dispatcher then a collector (quarters from both washers and dryers), then as a service tech after Katrina. They were very easy to work on and after a while you knew which parts to stock up on. Belts, motors, glo-bars for gas dryers and heating elements for electric dryers. Sometimes I would just replace the entire module on the washers. Good times.

Say no to GE for sure. My GE $1400 Steam Gas dryer, 2.5 years old has been mechanically totaled twice. Warranty company bought me out at 12 months when bearings failed and took out the $400 drum. also avoid Samsung. My front load washer bearings failed at 18 months and it was mechanically totaled, warranty company paid me off again and I fixed it myself. But what a pain. The whole drum rides on a 6” long shaft…. Speed queen is the way to go if you have the water.
