I was aware of the Forscan mod, but not heard about them getting erased by an update/recall. Similar threads at the bottom of this page also coming up empty.
When they flash the updated as built data which incorporates whatever change they made (in this case a change related to turn signals) it is based on how the vehicle was configured from the factory. If someone went in and added cruise to their 2022 XL, when they go in for this recall the flash will include as-built data based on the vehicle not having cruise control.

So I took my truck in for 2 recalls, the 23E09 and the turn signal one. And yep, they reset all my Forscan changes. Not only that but ALL of my settings were back to factory, just my radio channels were saved. The recall updates seemed to only make things worse, my auto brake hold activated itself twice now without me pressing the button. So if your truck is running fine I would not consider having recall work done.
FYI, pulled from the Forscan forum. Perhap consider posting your experience there.

Anyone else have this issue? Bad part XL
Added so I’m wondering if Ford will not
Also Radio has a scan now to link other
Music? Txs
Last Thursday I had a at home service call to update the software (recall notice for the taillights) and noticed on Saturday that the cruise control is not working. I checked the fuse and also did a hard reset on the computer by disconnecting the battery but this did not fix the issue (2022 XL) any suggestions?

This is happening when official Ford updates are applied to altered programming not from the factory.

You have to do it again.

As with the LED enthusiasts - official Ford updates will alter the programming they had to do for the aftermarket LEDs. Same with your not from Ford added cruise control.

I have a basic XL. Just had recall done and now no cruise. Knowing XL no CC. I had a guy for scan. And need to got the codes again
One of these two depending on how it was done.

Only the BCM coding was likely reset.
So I would just try enabling cruise control in the BCM and see if that fixes it.

So do the dealerships have forscan that they could reset my Escape wheel BCM back to "Enable Cruise Control"?

A dealer isn't going to re-do the hack you had to enable stuff in your truck that it wasn't originally equipped with, no.

You will either have to play with Forscan yourself or find somebody with the software to re-enable the functions you had.

Its really not a hack, its OEM Ford parts, Ford software, the XL did not come with Cruise. I'll find out in the morning and report back.

You can call it whatever you like, but the part about the vehicle not originally coming with cruise is the point.

No matter how easy and off-the-shelf it might be, a legit Ford dealer is not going to touch that functionality. Good luck, regardless. :)

My Ford dealership tried to program my Cruise back in, he tried ISP and the newer version that the tech's use and it wouldn't let him do it in either. We talked about Forscan and he said there are tech's he knows that use Forscan for there own Fords and do side jobs with it. They were bummed that they couldn't get it done but they liked that they leaned a lot about what was happening with the truck after the BCM recall stuff.

It's not a manufacturer equipped option on 2022 XL trim Maverick.

It really is a hack. Ford dealers do not have Forscan software.
Forscan is not expensive. Recommend obtaining it and learning how to use it. You will need it again in the future.
