Sounds like Ford should have embroidered directions to the sun visors so they are always handy. Then no excuse for customers missing a step.
That's why I make a card for every towed. I don't trust my memory to not skip a step. So I read it like it is new every damned time.

I'll give you one excuse for those not following the right steps. After you run the engine through the gears and end in Neutral (step 2), the dash offers an instruction as to how to keep it in neutral for 30 minutes. There are so many folks these days paying less-than-needed attention to many things, I could see them doing that to get to neutral instead of neutral tow.

rant/ Folks these days like things done for them, without having to exercise thought or caution...and then in the F-150 group, after they trash their transmission by improper towing, they jump onto Facebook and want to start a class action lawsuit because "it's Ford's fault". Then we have folks who say, "The manual says...but what do the Facebook experts say? Do I really have to do what the manual says?" Like they want permission to trash their transmission and then blame the random Facebook community despite the fact that it is plainly written in the manual. /end rant.

I have a 2023 with all of the firmware updates through April. I am on a 5 month trip towing the Maverick behind my RV. For the first 2000 miles (about 10 hops), the process going in and out of neutral tow worked every time. The last two times, it comes out of neutral tow and I can operate the vehicle normally, but when I turn the switch off, a "Vehicle is in neutral tow. Leave it in N to stay in Neutral tow." Then the next day, when I want to REALLY put in in neutral tow, it won't go. Have to disconnect the battery. Battery voltage is good. Called my dealer, they could find no alerts on this topic.

That's how it worked with me, at random times it just gives the Neutral Tow message.
I can drive it fine but not place it in Neutral Tow again.

I have one of those green knob battery disconnect on my battery. I tip the seat, pop the battery cover, and loosen the knob. When we need the Maverick, I tighten the knob, pop the cover back on, drop the seat and go.

I just had the recalls done to the computer but we are home for the summer and not towing it.

I am at the 4th dealer getting the Tow Mode corrected. Just traveled across the country west to east. Sometimes it worked getting out of Tow Mode, and sometimes it was call another tow truck to get the truck to a dealer. Hoping to get this fixed and just not just a clearing of the trouble for now. Only to have the same thing happen in the middle of no where.

I have a friend with a 23 Maverick had the same problem 3 times; she got rid of it and got a jeep!!!

So I too am now in the "stuck in neutral tow mode" club. :-(

I've seen others have mentioned adding a brake relay switch to fix the problem? Is there anyone that doesn't have a brake relay switch and doesn't see the problem? I'm not clear why adding this switch would fix anything.

NEVER have I had a problem in and out of NT with my 2023 Lariat.
Last 2600 mile trip had it in and out probably 6 times as we overnighted or did the "every 6 hours" routine; this trip it has been in and out 4 times so far. I do have a charge wire (with diode and 15A fuse), and a power tap directly at the battery (after BMS sensor, of course) for the BrakeBuddy. No "relay" or anything else, except diodes in the taillights for lights (just like a "normal" towing light installation).

We had it happen 3 or 4 times in our over 3000 mile trip, from NY to Miami, over to Galveston, up to Amarillo, the Pittsburgh, and back to Central NY. We disconnected at least 30 times in our trip because we only travel about 225 miles a day. It's no big deal to tip up the rear seat, pop open the cover and turn the green knob of our cheap disconnect switch. Wait 10 minutes and tighten it up.

If Ford comes up with a fix, I'll get it done, but I'm not buying a Jeep after outfitting my Maverick, besides we like it.

It is looks like it would be worth it to Ford to figure this out!!!! I don't think it is only a RM problem; others have Blue Ox.
