Neutral Tow mode & Battery

I picked up my 25 xlt hybrid yesterday and after the test drive i put it in neutral tow mode to check that feature, a message came up about battery drain during this mode. for those towing behind a motorhome do you utilize a charge line or just rely on starting it up periodically during your travels?

Use a charge line, never any issues.

I use the RVI towed charger, which allows me to see the charge rate on the tablet for the brake system.

I’ve had mixed success with the charge line from the motorhome. I’ve had the 12v battery run down to 10v while being towed. I’m grateful it never dropped out of “tow mode”! To resolve the issue I bought a lithium battery and quick connectors and used it to keep the 12v battery charged. This worked great.

Then I learned why the charge line was intermittent, when the connector tab on the 7 pin connector fell off…no wonder I wasn’t getting a recharge to the Mav battery when under way! I replaced the connector and all has been well, and I doubt I’ll need to use the LiIon battery in future.

I’m installing my RoadMaster Base Plate this coming weekend I also purchased a new RoadMaster Nighthawk Towbar and a “charge line” good to know the charge line works without any issues - first trip towing my new 2025 Maverick first week of May
