Another reason it should have a old fashion column shifter😳
Unless linkage failure is the problem. Happened to my old Chevy Trailblazer and caused me quite a headache. If it had a rotary shifter and a manual release like this it would have been a piece of cake. 🍰

Although....come to think of it, there would've been no linkage to fail in the first place, and I wouldn't have been crawling under the damn car in my good suit to release it from park at all. I'll take the rotary shifter thank you!

If I had a nickel for every Ford column shifter I've had to replace the shift tube, shift tube plunger, bushings, clamps, or pivot pins on....

Manual park release cable, not park break. Basically like putting the transmission in neutral.

If you have no power and can't shift it into neutral for towing, you can pull that to free the transmission from Park.
Love when I learn something new that is actually valuable on the forum - thank you!

I was thinking it was going to be another thread about the green tab (manual fuel cover release) but nope, yet another hidden cord.

Wonder how many others are hidden about in the Mav.

Same. I was getting ready to parade out the info I have posted before about the green guy. Refreshing to see a "new" mystery. Haha. I am double proud that my reading of the entire manual during a sleepless night also let me know what this red one was. Now if I could just get Ford to build me one so I can see it in person....

And a hand crank starter. And manual brakes. Perhaps manual spark advance?
