In New Jersey it is illegal to pump your own gas.....
And hopefully always will be. I lived in South Carolina and Virginia for a few years. Hated that I had to pump my own gas and the inside of my car always smelled like a gas station. Until our illustrious Governor decided to put a huge tax on gas, we had some of the lowest prices in the country .

Think that's the manual park break release
I opened my hatch, and there is no release to be found. I looked into the opening with a flashlight, and felt around as much as possible, and I can't find it. Does anyone know which angle this comes from? It's a XLT hybrid if that matters!

Another reason it should have a old fashion column shifter😳
My 2012 Focus had a shift lever, but guess what? Most cars made in the past 10 years or so have an electronic lock out from the shifter to the transmission. When I had my Focus for about 6-1/2 mostly trouble free years, the electronic module went bad and I couldn't shift the lever out of park. It had to be towed to the dealer to have the module replaced. So don't think that because it's a dial rather than a shifter that a shifter will be less problematic. Shifters on new cars aren't just a simple cable or linkage type system anymore.

If you're going to go retro, you might want to ditch those new-fangled brakes too.

Your humor is lost on him. He cut a hole in the floor and stops his cars with his feet, flintstones style.

So you think the state should legislate how your car smells?

I think you might have been doing it wrong. You're supposed to pump it into the tank, not spray it all over the car like you're reenacting the gas fight from Zoolander!

Same here. FE Hybrid. No cord. Manual has no exception to the cord.

Stopped by local dealership and inquired about the cord. He seemed to have a clue about the Maverick and the pull cord. Told him my hybrid did not have such cord. He stated that made sense since the electric motor can't be disconnected from the transmission. From this I gather the hybrids do not have the cord and the manual does not specify it is only on the EB. Good thing it's FWD and can be drive wheels can be lifted. Just hope I have enough juice to undo the parking brake.

What does this red thing do? Can't find any info in the manual.
Thanks
When trying to have my hybrid towed, we opened the compartment and it's empty. My dealer said my engine shouldn't have a cable. I still don't know how to have it towed if I can't put it in neutral.

From Owner's Manual - Pages 186/187:
USING "MANUAL PARK RELEASE"
Activating the manual Park Release Cable

  1. Apply the Parking Brake. See Electric Parking Brake (Page 194). NOTE: If the battery is dead, for example, no electrical power available, you could need an external power source to apply the parking brake.
  2. Remove the access cover with a tool or key by prying the panel in the upper corner.
  3. Locate the manual park release tether in the center console.
  4. Switch the ignition on but do not start your vehicle. NOTE: do not activate the manual park release with the engine started.
  5. Once in the drivers seat, fully apply the brake pedal and hold. Do not release. Pull the tether strap rearward until engaged. If done correctly, a message appears in the instrument cluster. NOTE: There is an audible click when you pull the tether back in the locked position.
  6. With your foot still fully applied on the brake pedal, disengage the parking brake. See Electric Parking Brake (Page 194). ---> **NOTE: Your vehicle is now out of the "Park" (P) position and is free to roll** <---
  7. Your vehicle remains in "Neutral" (N) for emergency towing purposes.
