Until Ford isolates and fixes the deep sleep problem with an update this is my resolution.
I like many others here, had deep sleep problems on my 2022 XLT Hybrid and my 2023 Lariat Hybrid.
Using all of the products mentioned below on our work vehicles I was familiar with their products.
I already had a Noco GB20 with a Noco GBC007 Adapter cable from a previous vehicle.
I attached the GBC007 cable under the hood to the positive and negative posts. This allowed me to jump start quickly.
After several of the much talked about FordPass “Remote features disabled to preserve battery” messages. I researched a trickle charger.
I ended up purchasing a
Noco Genius5 which I installed directly to the 12 V battery under the seat. The negative cable is mounted to a factory ground. I could have attached to the GBC007 with the adapter but didn’t want to have to lift the hood and drape the cord on the paint.
When I received the “Remote features disabled to preserve battery” message, I’d flip up the back seat and plug the Genius5 into an extension cord which I ran to an outlet.
This still required me to close the door overnight with the cord hanging out the passenger (battery) side.
In May 2025 I traded up to a 2025 Lariat Hybrid and having all of the Genius products, installed them just in case.
Looking for a cleaner solution for the Genius5, I purchased a GCP1 port plug and a 6 ft extension cord from Home Depot.
I popped out all of the plastic retaining clips and removed the left rear wheel well liner. This allowed access to the rubber factory grommet under the left rear seat.
I chose the rear liner over the front liner as it was rigid plastic and not the felt like soft material used on the front. I also placed it on the drivers side so that if I was ever in a hurry I wouldn’t forget to unplug.
I cut off the female end of the extension cord made a hole in the grommet and passed the extension cord through.
I reattached the female end of the cord on the cabin side and patched it back up. This allowed me to plug the Genius5 into the extension cord.
Using a hole saw I drilled in a flat spot at the top of the wheel well and mounted the GCP1 port plugging the extension cord into it.
The GCP1 is waterproof so when the seal is closed properly any water sprayed will not enter the port.
I got the first FordPass message on this Maverick in January, a week after installing everything.
Much easier to charge it up now when I need to. Hopefully in the meantime Ford comes up with an update.
