Somebody definitely done goofed up on the assembly line, looks more like a cut out than a patch, would definitely bring to dealers and ford’s attention though….i know for sure my EB doesn’t have something like that on the tailpipe

You’ll find it’s not a patch or mistake, it’s a vent and helps reduce drone and quiet the exhaust note. My new TRX has 4 (2 on each side, ) that are almost identical to that pic..... some TRX guys will put large band clamps over them to pick up a little more sound out the tailpipes.

Here’s a link to a thread on the TRX site with pics and an explanation on how they work:

Thanks. Can anyone take a look at their tailpipe and see if it’s there?

Neat! Looks like a small revision to the exhaust note. Nope, mine does not have that (October 2021 build). Based on the sharpie I wonder if this a limited run of these exhaust setups that were made for testing?

Maybe when you sell the truck you can list it as having a rare Ford Engineering exhaust!

I have the same "patch" on my XLT/AWD. Definitely seems like an after thought to me, and something that will rust out before the rest of the exhaust, but it is factory.

Did they remove the resonator? Would save weight if this gizmo does it’s job.

Yes, this is normal. On both EcoBoost and Hybrids the resonator (used to be just before the tailpipe on early builds) was deleted in favor of the resonance patch seen here. All Mavericks going forward are built this way.

You can read more about this technology here.
