A 2020 Ford GT is HALF A MILLION DOLLARS, that’s an Apple Tree compared to a Cyber Orange…If you wanted the first 2020 Ford GT you had to show a proven record of Ford ownership and a better reason than the other guy why you deserved one..
A lot of people couldn’t get one despite their loyalty to the company.
Better talk nice about them if you want to get your Maverick.
Ford listens.![]()
Sorry for my post; it was too personal and not well thought out. I will just say that MANY people believe that what is happening to Ford is in most general ways happening to other manufacturers. The question, then from a business viewpoint, is how well Ford communicates what is happening with their customers. The majority of buyers do not follow this forum. Many dealers have told prospective buyers unrealistic build/delivery times. It would seem possible that FORD could require dealers to hand out an informational brochure/pamphlet outlining problems and potential delivery delays to prospective buyers. If necessary, have a statement in bold print outlining potential problems at the top of the buyer order. No, the poster said School of Business should study Ford's failures. I pointed out based on my experience and specific education there isn't a failure to study. Just a bunch of people that knew ordering a Maverick was a gamble of when it would arrive so the failure was on him for unreasonable expectations.
That includes potty training…You can make a person in less time than it takes Ford to make your Maverick![]()
I actually have some sympathy here to his point of being there on September 16th. I was there the first hour of the first day too. You think that would count for something but it turns out it doesn't mean a thing. It sucks to be waiting in line for ice cream and have them call up the people behind you in line because they want two scoops of chocolate and you only want one of vanilla.Hoosier, you're no more special or entitled than anyone else who orders a new vehicle in higher demand than available supply. You'll get little sympathy from this forum.
Take a number and wait like everyone else. Or walk.
The problem also is these dealerships are not Ford owned so they go rogue with the vehicles…Because I did my research (here and other sites) I knew what to expect when I ordered in 2022. I wanted an ecoboost with a lot of options but I took off a couple of constrained items. I picked it up April 14 which was just what I expected.
The only place I think Ford screwed up is they changed their plan a few times. There was a time when they said they would do orders based on which were ordered first but then they changed that and said they would go by allocations which makes more sense. Allocations take into account many factors that might reward some dealers and limit supply to others. They are certainly allowed to do that- standard business practice.
It's possible that Ford needs to educate the dealers better but I think they put the info out there and dealers are too lazy to read it. I had to call my dealer and tell them the window was open last year because I read the memo on here and apparently they did not. I did not get any special treatment- I was a 19 on my order at the dealer.
Anybody who ordered or re-ordered in September 2022 should have known everything I knew- it was all out there. I knew my chances of getting an ecoboost were very good but it could take up to a year. I knew if I ordered a hybrid it was a crapshoot.
I would not assume Ford wants to make a whole lot more units on a low profit vehicle.
Dude, most brands have been having this issue these last few years. Last time I checked, the wait list for Toyota Rav hybrids was about 2.5 years. Listen to any brand talk about their in demand models, and they'll talk about how their waiting lists are months, often years long. It's now going on eleven months since i ordered my Maverick Lariat through a small dealer in Kentucky. My reason for choosing this dealer is that this dealer has won numerous President's Award and they only sell vehicles at MSRP. I originally ordered a hybrid Maverick Lariat, but when we received information and switching to an ecoboost would increase my chances of getting built. Customer Service with Ford has given me all kinds of excuses, yet I see others who have ordered at the same time or later since September 16, 2022 have received their Maveric. I cannot believe how inept Ford Motor Company has been in getting this fiasco or an order system figured out. I've bought 8 new Ford vehicles since 2013 off the lot. I've been a loyal Ford customer. I have used Ford's service department at this one dealer I was using. I currently have a 2019 Edge Titanium and a 2020 Ford Escape SEL. I've decided that after this experience with Ford, I'll be going with a different brand. This is a text book case for a School of Business to review and see how Ford has been such a failure.
I was on the phone with my sales guy on the 15th before the system went down. My order got enteredI actually have some sympathy here to his point of being there on September 16th. I was there the first hour of the first day too.
I did the same thing. I couldn't wait. I just kept my eyes peeled on Ford dealerships in a metropolitan area. Sometimes people who order them back out so the dealer has them on the lot. It took me a few weeks but I found a loaded FX4 Lariat Lux and a Tremor Lariat Lux. The FX4 had literally every option. I really liked it but chose the Tremor for the locking transaxle and heavier duty. I did have to pay a $3,000 mark up but I had the dealers fighting against each other so I ended up with a spray in bed liner and a tonneau cover.Or, paid above msrp and waited 2 weeks.
Worth it!
I needed a new car badly and hadn’t pre ordered a Maverick either. Sort of a no brainer for me.

It is more like you want vanilla and they are waiting for the delivery of vanilla to come to the ice cream shop and they are waiting on the folks that want chocolate since the vanilla has not arrived yet. Why make the folks wanting chocolate wait while the vanilla is somewhere else in the supply chain?I actually have some sympathy here to his point of being there on September 16th.
