Our 24 Lariat hybrid,1500 miles, sounds like a spaceship when decelerating. I’m pretty sure its the regenerative braking, but it seems abnormally loud. One time while descending a long 9% grade, it made the same spaceship sounds only almost obnoxiously loud.
We're giving it all she's got, Captain! 🚀

Freaked out the oil change guy. Didn't expect ufo like sound while creeping the truck forward. It's the pedestrian warning sound.

We used to own a 2012 Lincoln MKZ hybrid and I dont recall it doing this.

Is it worth mentioning to the dealer?
I love it personally. As my brother once said "This thing is a robo car". Some people find those external speaker noises to be annoying or gimmicky. I personally think it gives the maverick some extra personality.

I had the same issue when coming down a step grade on a mountain road. The noise sounded like the truck was revving very high in a low gear. I was essentially coasting down the hill and it didn't matter what mode I put the truck in. It seemed to get worse as I got faster, so I got into the slow lane and broke. It was so concerning to me that it was the deal clincher for taking out an extended warranty. I will definitely be talking to the dealer's service department when I get my next oil change.

Fake noise generator? What in the devil is this?
It's mandated by the U.S. government and several other governments around the world, than hybrids and EVs have to play some sort of artificial noise to alert pedestrians. I know some people don't like that feature, but think if you live in a neighborhood or something, and came around a blind corner, and kids were in the street because they didn't hear you coming. Or blind people.

That's what the UFO sound is, it's nothing mechanical as far as I know. It's just a speaker system. I believe if you get in there and start pulling fuses, you can get rid of it, but I wouldn't recommend that.

That's normal behavior. If the HVB nears full charge the regen capability is reduced and it switches to utilizing engine braking to augment.

Sounds like engine braking, and totally not bad.

Most people don't understand that you CAN rev a car up past 3k RPMs with no issues (if they're not diesel!). Most auto transmissions try to keep the RPMs low for gas mileage though.

My old Miata is at about 4k RPMs at 75mph, but that sounds really weird in 1-3 gears because it sounds like "SUPER RACECAR!" But it's not bad on the vehicle which has redline at 7500 RPMs.

My Odyssey opens up "VTEC!!!!" at 4k RPMs (redline is 7000 RPMs I think?) but it rarely gets to play like that.

There's a speaker behind the bumper on the left front. It's to alert the vision-challenged pedestrians to let them know you're there. All EVs and hybrids have them. The early days of electric vehicles were so quiet that people were stepping into their path...with unfortunate results.
I worked on autonomous industrial vehicles in warehouses and auto plants and we had to program a 'beep' into the vehicles for that reason. It's way more annoying than the Maverick's 'Jetson' noise.

It's normal If the HV battery has reached a certain state of charge. The truck is using engine braking, which extends the life of your brake pads and rotors..

Mine": 2024 hybrid Lariat about 1,450 miles = has an electric sound but not loud going down a hill, the regen meter shows in the green and the truck holds its speed. If yours is loud and you are familiar w/hybrid from a previous vehicle I would take it into the dealer and at least document it.

I haven't noticed any abhorrent sounds while using regenerative braking, maybe I need to turn the stereo down.
