I have an XLT Hybrid Maverick and I have found that the seats and ride are much better than my previous 2015 Honda Fit Ex and the wife's 2009 Honda CR-V Ex.

A friend who owns a Ford Focus raves how much better ride the Maverick is compared to his car.

Also the seat quality is better in the XLT compared to the XL so that can be a reason for the better ride in the XLT.
seats are exactly the same, just different covers. Look up the part numbers for the frames and cushions.

There’s a thread about some trims missing the foamy noise dampener between the wheel well and the cabin. You can see it easily (or not) if you open either front door and look in the cavity. Possibly a little psychological effect there? Not sure if either trim is different in that regard, just a thought.

Then the "different covers" are more than just covers as sitting in the XL is firmer vs the XLT which is more cushiony.

Many professional reviews mention that the seats in XLT are much more comfortable than the XL.

The XLT lux has adjustable lumbar support too, so that might make a difference as well.
There is no "adjustable lumbar support" in the XLT.

I've sat in both and noticed nothing......I've also read a ton of reviews and don't ever remember hearing/reading about their perceived difference in seat cushions.......could you provide a link to a reviewer that does?

I was going to mention the same thing. I believe the XL Hybrid doesn't have them and I verified I have them on my XLT Hybrid. I would think in a Hybrid especially when the ICE is off it would make a difference in road noise.

I spent a day with both a hybrid and an ecoboost, one thing I noticed on the hybrid was that when the ICE was running it sounded very crude and unrefined compared to the ecoboost. I'm guessing they are trying to mitigate that on hybrid models with the extra panels for sound dampening

This doesn't really make sense, they both have the same continental tires, same suspension dampers and components and seat cushions with the exception of the heating elements in the XLT lux seats. From what I understand the steel and aluminum wheels on both weigh in at 27 pounds. This might be a psychological bias....
his butt confirmed it for him.

yes, when the engine is charging the battery, it is under more load that the driving conditions call for, resulting in harsher experience. I see the on my PHEV wrangler. annoying to say the least. Also, the engine has to 'condition' the battery - heat it up. On colder starts, the engine will load up to quickly warm up the coolant circ through the battery. Watch how fast the engine temp goes up when engine is load, but just idling.

Yes, I have leased a PHEV and understand the phenomenon but the 2.5L Ford ICE is especially crude in operation I guess because it's a pretty old engine itself and not really as refined as a lot of more modern offerings.

I could be wrong, but I believe the XLT with the lux has a noise dampening windshield. Therein may lie the difference.
I seem to remember that you have to go up to the Lariat to get the noise dampening windshield. No???

There are professional reviews that mention the XL seats are firm (and would be uncomfortable on long trips) and other reviews that mention the XLT seats are very comfortable and they would not have and problems on long trips.

They were probably different reviews as those professional reviews were only offered the (XL or XLT) and a Lariat to compare.

So could you post a link to the professional review(s) that state the XL and the XLT seats have no perceived differences in comfort.

Since posting that on this thread, I've been reminded that that is the case ... Lariat trim needed.
