Yeah I knew about that. One of the big draws of the Maverick Hybrid, imo.
I would have jumped on the Maverick sooner but at first I thought it was a belt/pully CVT. When I found out it was an eCVT I jumped on it and only 19 months later I had it.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that the Hybrid transmission has a name similar to a transmission of a totally different design and not so stellar reputation.

The very similar names have caused a lot of badmouthing by people ignorant of the vast differences between the two transmissions.

My 2014 Corolla with a CVT has 195,000 on it.

A 2012 Escape Hybrid / eCVT with over 400k city miles. https://fordauthority.com/2019/08/

Glad you've been lucky with your CVT. There are too many early failures for me to ever buy another one, though, including one in a Subaru I owned.

I’ve heard these escapes brought up anytime someone brings up Maverick reliability. While it’s great it’s not exactly a huge sample size. I don’t think I’ve been “lucky” with my cvt, there’s a long track record of many manufacturers making g long lasting and reliable cvt’s. My maverick just hit 60k and I’ve had 10x the issues with it then the 195k Corolla.

My 2007 Toyota RAV4 has 250,000 miles on it and the only thing wrong is the rather loud loose nut behind the wheel.
A new Rav 4 won't be as reliable. Every manufacturer is facing 100s of thousands of recalls for all sorts of issues. Ford isn't the only one having issues.

My 2022 Hybrid has been at the dealer for 2-plus weeks waiting for both axles to arrive. Fortunately I got a loaner, 2024 Edge fully loaded. The 27mpg in this thing is killing me....

My 2018 escape had 193k kms and my 2011 escape had over 300k kms without needing it

I have been doing some acceleration testing and low traction flooring on the drive home and I think it was just typical shit at 80mph/130km/hr+ standard speed wobble because of AT tires, and thankfully not CV

Next time I am under it i will be taking a very detailed look, though, but I have only ever done "the works" while it was under b2b warranty and never had anything come up
FYI issues show up first on cornering, not race car style, just normal accels out of a corner.

like many others I am dealing with bad cv axles. Took my truck in when I noticed the shaking upon acceleration and it was confirmed a passenger side cv axle. I asked if they could replace both and was told no. Waited 3 weeks for the new and improved cv axle while still continuing to drive on it. Was installed today and just got the call that it’s better but still present. So as predicted they now said the driver side is bad and the part is 1 month out. Again, they told me to continue driving it. Who knows what damage is being done to related components while driving. I’m sure it will be something else after the driver side is repaired.
this is only one of many issues I’ve had with this thing. Worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. If you’re on the fence about a maverick , don’t do it.
Be sure to report this to the NTSB online and how Ford is responding to the ongoing safety issue. my dealership tried to convince me there was only one front axle!

Yeah I'm quite certain I was just getting ahead of myself!

It's mostly sharp braking, when a light turns yellow and I'm not willing to floor it through, and have to slam on brakes (when there aren't people behind me) it gets shaky, but I think that's just the ABS/traction control doing its work prior to displaying the light

No matter how hard i accelerate, even when starting with wheels in full lock to the side and doing everything I can to make it the worst conditions possible, the only rumbling I'm getting is from my tires spinning, so, I think I'm good now. Been trying to pay a LOT more attention over the last 3k kms

Worst vehicle you’ve ever owned because of a cv failure? I used to own a Jeep wrangler. U-joint failures on the front axle are common. It’s analogous to a CV failure in the Maverick. Did I get upset and vent to the internet over it? Nope. It was a known issue. I did the same thing everyone else was doing; I drove the stock u-joints until they failed, about 25k miles, then I replaced the u-joints with stronger RCV brand CV axles.

likewise, when my maverick cv joints inevitably fail, I’ll let the dealer cover them if I’m still under warranty, and if not, I’ll use my own cash to get the stronger tremor cv joints to replace them.
