I just installed a set of these, the new version. Unfortunately I had to remove the struts after the installation, they simply are too short. The first time I leaned into the engine compartment I hit my head on the hood! I measured the hood height from the top of the plastic front grill to the front edge of the hood: 26 1/4" using the struts. Then I removed the struts and propped the hood up with the factory rod. The grill to hood edge distance using the prop rod is 30 3/4". That 4 1/2" difference is kind of a big deal.
I checked my installation against pictures on this forum of the new version and they match exactly, so I think they are installed correctly.
BTW, my struts measure 12 1/16" from center of socket to center of socket. Maybe a longer strut will fix the problem, not sure.
Has anyone else had this issue?

That’s disappointing to hear these were on my list of mods - thank you for providing the information you just saved me a few bucks…

You may want to consider Redline Tuning Hood Struts. Their awesome imo, installed them way back in 22 when I first got my truck, Zero issues and super easy to install has been my experience

I just pulled the trigger and ordered the Redline Tuning Elite Series on sale for $139 plus $8.95 Shipping (2-6 Days Delivery) thanks for the information Craig I appreciate it I do like the open position is 2” greater than the Prop Rod position👍

Awesome. Think you will really like them. Another great thing is their design only requires removing 1 nut on each side of the hood mount instead of 2 like the other brands, so the chance of misaligning the hood is eliminated.

I'm very happy with the Klutchtech struts I got from Amazon ($45).

🤓 I installed the MRT Struts on my 2022 when they 1st released them. I had to replace them once, because they quit working. But they seem to work for me, but then I only stand 5’ 2”. I’ve never bumped my head getting under my hood.

Gave them a call, and they told me it was by design. Oh well, I'll just remove the brackets and use the prop rod.
Wow by design, surprising most design objectives are to improve functionality. Well my Redline Tuning Hood Struts shipped this morning so we’ll see but I’m really happy their design increases the hood opening by 2” over the prop rod position.

Yep I’ve been extremely pleased with my redline ones and they did increase the opening some but I don’t recall the exact amount
