I have scoured old threads and Youtube and only come up with a couple options. How have people been mounting and wiring their HS10?

My front door / dash speakers had been replaced when I got the truck. I have since bought rear speakers, sound deadening material and a Kicker HS10 that I want to install.

Mounting-what is the most secure / least rattle free way to mount the sub? I see people using the original amp bracket flattened out-would a board secured to that work ok? I also thought about getting flat metal with holes in it and screwing that to the original bracket then secure the sub to those "arms".

Wiring-I know the Kicker can use a speaker level input but I have heard the rear speakers have a crossover from the head unit and aren't a good choice for tapping into? Aftermarket harness? I am going to call Plug and Play tomorrow, Huel doesn't list a harness anymore.

Thanks in advance!

A carpeted board would work just fine to mount, I'd be skeptical about adding metal arms but I'm not sure exactly what your plan is so I'll hold judgement.

What speakers did you replace with in the doors?

Let us know what PlugandPlay says!

I assume you have the base, non-B&O system.

You do not want to tap into the rear speakers for your HS10. You can tap into the door speakers pretty easily. You can find discussions about the ACM wiring in this forum, and here's the diagram. If you want to use a plug & play harness adapter that will save you some time and hassle but they are pretty expensive for this purpose, you'll pay for the convenience.

For your HS10 you could also take it straight from the RF speaker, yellow/green, if you want to wire back through the door hinge boot. I don't know if I would say that would be easier than manually splicing into the output side of the ACM harness.

There are several threads here showing pics of a HS10 or similar sub mounted behind the rear bench seat. The depth at the bottomw is more than you'd think, probably 4-5". You can make a cardboard model if you want to use some new placement but I'd probably just copy what you find in another thread.

I used a piece of wood and attached it to the unused amp rack with two bolts

I am planning on doing exactly your upgrade - I wanted to know if you found any worthy tips elsewhere? I'm debating between just upgrading all the speakers and wiring directly into the (front vs rear) set of set of speakers.

Let me know what you're thinking!

Rear speakers isn't a option, trust me.

Good to know...I've heard this a few times now. So therefore, a relatively easy upgrade option might just be a subwoofer and front door speaker replacement/install. That way, since I will already have to access the front door speakers to wire them into the Kicker sub, I will be able to swap them out for something better.

I ordered a harness from Plug-N-Play kits that will plug in behind the head unit and give me a direct tap to the front speakers for line level inputs to the HS10. I haven't gotten in yet but once it gets here and we have a cool day I plan to get this upgrade done. I am going to make a video of the process when I do and put it on youtube.

I am looking on the Plug-N-Play website and it appears you can order the sub (Kicker Hideaway 10) with the wiring harness for $400. Is that the option you went with? I am dying to know how your install goes - let me know! Cheers

I did not order the speaker from Plug-N-Play as I didn't know it was an option. Got it off eBay for around $280 and got the harness from them.

Will be a little bit before I can install because of a pending surgery. I am getting the board cut this week then once healed I can get it all done.
