I've got the hideaway hs10 and had a professional install it. I'm getting distortion at moderate volumes. Head unit bass is set to neutral. Hoping others can post their settings so I can compare? Installed with plug and play kits harness.

What's your bass tone control setting in the infotainment?

There is no tone control just the treble/mid/bass adjustments. I have the bass set to neutral in the middle. No boost or reduction

sorry, you did say that in the first post.

check the hs10's input level switch / button. if it's set to low and it's connected to speaker level it could do that.

otherwise I would take a pic of the gain knob position then turn it down a bit and see if there's any change.

It is set to low.
Gain is set to the second notch.
Bass boost is turned down to zero
Frequency is set at about 80

flip it to high and try that.
It worked. However it really tamed the system significantly, even with the bass knob all the way up. I may need to mess with the gain and see if I can get more out of it this weekend. Thanks for your feedback. I need to find the sweet spot

huh. so that's a pretty big thing for a qualified installer to miss. did you flip it previously in pursuit of more output? that sub is fairly good for a compact powered 10" but it is not going to hit like a traditional 10 in a properly sized enclosure.

the hs10 manual should have the procedure for setting the gain.

Yes, and Kicker has some white papers on the general process on their site.

I'm realizing that what I was hearing was not actually distortion. It was buzzing from the vibration on the truck. The hs10 is mounted to the back wall. When I apply pressure on the back wall the buzzing goes away. I have dynamite installed on the wall but the buzzing is still prevalent at high volumes.
