I just bought a 2025 Maverick Lariat with the 2.0. It only has 1100 miles but Im already thinking about changing the oil. Ive owned my last truck for 15 years, a GM with a 5.3. I ran full synthetic, Mobil1 or Pennzoil. I know nothing about Motercraft oil. What is everyone running in their Mavericks

You will be fine with either of those two oils. 👍👍

running... 5w30 Pennzoil ULTRA Platinum full synthetic - it has the WSSM2C961-A1 spec on the bottle ... and a Motorcraft filter - - all changed at the first 1K miles. Probably switch to Amsoil filter next change.

I'm sure Pennzoil's next oil will be called "double-secret ULTRA platinum"

I did my first change at about 1,000 miles to clear out any metal debris. Oil was clean, but filter had plenty of tiny metal shards.

Refilled with Motorcraft 5w-30 full synth & filter purchased from dealer to document my DIY change.

After warranty, I’ll go back to my usual Mobil One via Amazon etc.

Good thinking. I change every new car at 1000 miles.

The warranty is my concern. Im sure the filter at the dealer is probably 3 times as expensive.

7qts of Motorcraft full synthetic & Motorcraft filter was $89 out the door tax included. Not the least expensive but not too bad.

Between Lake Speed Junior aka "The Motor Oil Geek" and the "Project Farm" videos on youtube, there's plenty to watch & learn ... and then go pull your hair out... or curly-shuffle smack your bald spot... enjoy

Do change out that factory oil fill soon. Another member posted some great info from the 2.0L doing used oil analysis from Blackstone, and the first takeaway there was that wear metals were really high on the first oil change, which is expected, and why doing a break in oil change is still very much a thing.

As for what oil to use, you can pick any oil off the shelf at Wal-Mart and they will all work well with the OE Motorcraft filter, or pretty much any other filter that isn't the orange or silver can Fram.

As long as you use oil that meets Ford specification your warranty is valid.

So....... Ford has their own refinery in Dearborn Mich. ? NOT!

Ford Oils are blended by various Oil refiners Such As ConocoPhillips Blends the standard Motorcraft oils. Valvoline Produces Motorcraft's full synthetic oils. There might be others but these are 2 of the largest suppliers for FoMoCo and are high quality.

Personally, I use Mobil 1 EP in all of my Gas powered vehicles. One funky exception is I use Shell Rotella T6 in my Onan / Cummins Gas Generator on my Motor Home.

I use what ever the dealer puts in. My dealer changes the oil free of charge if you bought the vehicle there for the life of the vehicle every 7500 miles. I am a light foot driver having never press the car at more than 40% throttle and rarely passed 30%. I am fine with 7500 miles.
