While I wait to hear about my Maverick Lariat that’s gonna run $39,300 and I am kicking the tires on a 2024 Silverado LT for $40,690….

I don't mean to come across as rude but they know their situation far more than we do. Obviously if they don't need the vehicle and they can actually make a profit on the sale they should do that. But if there's more to their situation that might make the decision less clear then they need to process that.
What? It was in response to the amount offered. Take a deep breath.

in Chicago can you really make more money driving the Flex than the Maverick hybrid? I would be pretty surprised about that given the differences in fuel cost. I guess the Maverick rear seat is pretty small and possibly the Flex might meet the criteria for Uber XL?
We have owned several Flex and they are great vehicles.

However, there are downsides. It is a heavy vehicle and Ford undersized some of the suspension and braking components which makes them wear faster than ideal. Brakes go quick on them, which means a lot of stop-and-go city traffic will be a factor. Tires wear a little faster on it than people seem to expect because of that weight. The other consideration is fuel economy. The Ecoboost variants get around 15 MPG in town and only a little better on the highway/freeway. The Duratec gets around half of what a hybrid Maverick gets in town.

If ridesharing is a goal than the Flex isn't all that ideal in terms of cost.

It was posted after my own, so without a quote reply I was left guessing that it was directed at me.

Enjoy your breathing as well.

I purposely stayed away from AWD and Ecoboost. The Flex is getting 20-21 MPG combined, which is not bad. At least it gets some higher paying XL rides to offset the gas increases. But the Maverick is not that comfy when the seat is slid forward for passenger room. And with my bad knee, the Flex is much better for driver comfort.

You also will have savings from not have to insure it or get a tag. Its very rare to end up on the positive side after buying a vehicle...especially if not really using it. Sell, Sell, Sell IMO.

It's the same thing with Toyota Sienna Hybrids too (the current ultimate rideshare vehicle). Very few available in lower trims though. That might be key.
In this area, the only thing on dealer lots is fully loaded Lariats and no hybrids.

Unfortunately, I just renewed both! Not a big deal though.

That's what Ford told dealers would get built the quickest.

It seems like from your responses to other comments, you've made up your mind. And I don't blame ya, I'd sell.

As an ex-Flex owner, I will say being in the 2nd row of the Flex is like a limo, and the 3rd row isn't bad either. My only concern would be the plastic water pump inside the motor. My wife traded in her 2010 Flex w/60k miles on a 2018 Explorer which had the same v6 and when I traded that on the Maverick it was leaking oil behind the timing chain where that pump is sitting.
Once that water pump starts leaking into your oil supply you're on borrowed time.
The Flex had a LOT more 3rd row space than the Explorer, as much as our '03 Honda Odessy.
But my bet is on the Maverick for long term operating costs.
