Someone (AutobahnSHO) found the LH & RH rear have some kind of vent in front of the wheel wells.
THe rear coner trim covers them up from view

Hardware cloth (Montevilla) on rear center vent:

What was involved in accessing the rear center vent? I've looked at it from underneath, but it appears that access is blocked by heat shields on the EB Maverick.

The wiring in the engine bay is probably insulated in a soy based vs petroleum. Nothing you can do about that.
I believe there are wire wraps and tape with embedded capsaicin (pepper spray agent) that can be put over existing wires to prevent rodent damage. Some car companies use capsaicin embedded wire casings right from the factory.

I haven't done it on mine so far.
Thread with the hardware cloth: Mice/rodent entry point behind rear seat

When I reinstalled/resealed vent for my 3500, had to work it in from inside like how below video shows.
Ford F Series Leaking Cabin Vent Replacement How To
Thanks for the links! I was assuming that applied the hardware cloth from the back side of the vent, but I see now that he pulled the vent from inside the cabin and applied the hardware cloth to the back side before replacing it. That makes sense.

Now there's 2 issues needing a solution.

Would be nice to have something for the incoming vent that you know won't cause water entrance problem. Maybe attachment points under existing bolts perhaps, or internal spring grabbers not easily pulled out.
Rear seat one much easier, but would be interesting to have a combo solution that also lessens the road noise when seat is down, or gone, so a screen other side of flap with standoff shield cabin side still allowing enough air flow behind it - perhaps the 2 screw together to sandwich the flap part.

I had a similar issue in my older Honda. Very stinky. I got some peppermint spray and sprayed it into the air intake while running the fan. Worked well. Mice went away. Smell went away. Actually smells good now. Going to apply the spray every week now since I hardly drive it anymore after the Mav came along.

Hopefully, but that is easily chewed into nesting material. I applaud your intuition though.
After thinking about it, that is a Very Valid point. They can chew thru that with hardly any effort.

Can some figure out how to code the flap to close when the car shuts off and open when the car starts up?! I’m also probably going to add mesh to the small rain guard. Poor design!

Difficult to tell exactly how they're getting in. I had a similar problem with mice nesting on top of my engine. My solution was just to leave the hood up every time I parked it. They don't seem to like being exposed to the sky. Hope this helps.

That does help keeping the hood open, but for the Maverick, the cabin air filter has multiple covers under the cowl panel so no light will get there. Gravy land tell me all the bumper fits me all

Ah found those side ones I might do some mesh on those too I feel like all the plastic on the inside might be soy

Since I have multiple vehicles and I'm in the country with cracked corn and chicken feed around, I have two rescue cats. They still hunt, but they are reaching retirement age, like me. I guess I'll need a couple of young cats soon. After I found two mice nesting in my chicken coup, I bought a bait box to try out. The cats don't go into the coup.
