almost at 100 000 km's/62 000 miles. lifetime fuel economy now at 27 MPG. Only problem/issue was a groan from rear diff, which was fixed under warranty by changing the fluid.

update 72K miles/115K km's. lifetime fuel economy still at 8.6L/100km////27MPG.

Got stranded. throttle response became non-linear, burning electrical smell, then throttle went limp. towed to dealer. egr cooler failure, internal leak. coolant getting into intake manifold. happened at night so no idea if any exhaust smoke. out of warranty, no goodwill. repairs were $1150 cdn/$850 US. Coolaning system was 4L low. Did a preventative oil change. seems all good. as soon as any of these symptoms appear, check coolant level/arrange for tow. looked up repair procedure, could easily have done this myself in about 3-4 hrs. part is around $100, rest all pretty basic labour. next time anything happens just gonna tow to my house instead of a $155/hr dealership. CAA covers towing and 2 days rental car anyways.

Sad part, good friend from road racing days is area service manager for 3-4 Ford dealerships. Called him first and he recommended towing to dealership he was visiting anyways next day. Service dept. was given heads up that night by him. First call next morning was 10am, 3 hrs past opening with a ''so what's this about?'' next call came at 330 pm after I contacted said friend again. So 2 days at dealership, then ''your car is done'' phone call came at 545pm, 15 minutes before closing. And the cooling system is severely overfilled, will deal with it myself.

Great write up. I have a buddy who has driven his big Chevy diesel 4x4 since 2001 and is in construction. Life changes, though. He's been diagnosed with a disease that slowly deteriorates his muscles and now he's having problems getting in and out of his truck's cab and forget about getting anything in and out of the bed. Enter the Maverick. Easy access, plenty of room, great mileage. Definitely, the Maverick means he can still get around on his own . . . a huge boost.

update. 163K km's/101K miles.
-lifetime fuel economy 8.5L/100km --just under 28 MPG.
-repairs. front sway bar endlinks. plain worn out, changed myself, easy.
-problems with no real solution. the dreaded loose/broken spot welds on the drivers door detent. Opened the door without realizing how windy it was, poor thing was rammed right into the detent. Afterwards, could hear squeaking when opening/closing door at first detent stage. Checked the welds, yep, they're popped. No real fix, unfortunately.
-overall, still a very happy first time Ford customer.
