Needs a red flag on the portion hanging way over the tailgate.
Per state and its technically only about 1.5’ over the back of the tailgate, I think anyone would be fine in any state

I thought I had it whipped with a 2x4 foot sheet of 3-inch cold-rolled steel which was just under 1000 lbs. Well there were the 4x4s under it but still, you beat me easily. And the steel was in front of the rear axle so it wasn't nearly so bouncy as your load must have been.

Wondering if anyone pushed the limit any more than this but I wasn’t willing to go any higher, ended up making 3 trips to get what I needed. Delivery got canceled the morning of by Lowes so the Maverick came to the rescue. Most I put in the bed was 28 sheets and some lumber.

That's some deep sheet!

Its kinda odd, but I have had the opposite experience. I had a guy in an F250 ask me how I liked the truck, we chatted for a bit and he said it was a sharp looking truck before he drove away. I had another guy at the gas station driving an F150 ask me about it, he said he was planning to put in an order in august and was happy to finally see one in person.

I only had one coworker question the truckyness of the Maverick. I just asked him if he thought the previous gen Rangers are trucks, to which he said yes. I then pointed out that the Maverick could tow more, had a higher payload and is about the same size as that gen of rangers, while getting 41mpg (my current avg measured at the pump).
Had a similar experience with a neighbor calling it “sharp”. I was picking up some wood from his house and he complimented the truck and every so often would ask another question or two about the truck. He owned two F150 lariats.

Had a similar experience with an old timer in my neighborhood. I was picking up some wood he offered me and when I showed up with the Maverick, he immediately complimented it calling it a “Sharp looking truck” he has two F150 lariats. While I was loading the wood, he kept asking questions about it and checking it out. I think I’m going to need a 41+MPG decal for the window! 🍃

Could be. I just the first weight I found for 1/2“ sheetrock. I don’t enough if it was 1/2”. Just a guess.
Second picture clearly shows 1/2" 4'x8' Ultralight

even the 1120 total I think still gets close to the tailgate weight limit. So I personally wouldn’t go anymore than that

Yes, looks like over half the weight is on the tailgate so that would be over 560 lbs on the tailgate.

Not to be "that" guy but it is very likely the rear axle is over loaded in this situation. The issue is the amount of weight that is behind the rear axle which moves weight from the front wheels to the rear. If you put a scale under each wheel in this configuration the front wheels could be supporting less weight than an unloaded truck. That weight doesn't disappear, it becomes part of the load on the rear axle.

I would estimate that the center of mass of the load is 1-2 feet behind the axle and as such is exerting more weight on the rear axle than the weight of the load by itself.

I have had alot of people ask about the truck which is inevitable when your one of the first group with the new shiny thing and have shown alot of people the truck even let one drive it (live in the same small town) but typically the ones who make the "not truck" comments are the full size and 3/4 ton trucks.

I'm not saying all cause I have had some with genuine interest but I have had the truck for going on 7 months now and have put 14k on it mostly since January (was told by town office if I waited to register it after 1st of the year it would be 150 dollars cheaper which was only a month that I didn't drive it) and have seen everything from an EV driver calling me a planet killer for buying a Gas powered vehicle (I just shook my head and walked away on that one) to a big rig driver asking if he could buy mine after I let him check it out ( of course I said no haha)

Also let me add that I know not all EV drivers are crazy wackjobs like the one in my previous post. Just incase someone think that I ment EV drivers as a general I did not just mention that

It took it easy, worked out fine. Was worried the Ratchets would mess up the dry wall too
Those aren’t bungees,…those are flex straps for the flex bed 😉

Was a concern I had with the dipping tailgate — how much that affects weight distribution in relation to tailgate load capacity…

Use rope. Friction or some other form of physics had your back that day. Bungee cords were just there for the ride.
