They will have to wait until august 2 to order one and then wait a year for the test maverick to come in. Hope they're in no hurry. :)

According to a post a while back, they have already acquired their test unit(s). We've just been waiting for them to do the actual testing.

No they won't as the website states MY22 not MY23

MODEL YEAR 2022 VEHICLES SELECTED FOR 5-STAR SAFETY RATINGS TESTING

the date also is "October 14, 2021 | Washington, DC" so 9 months ago.

Ford should be submitting the test vehicle(s) (MY22 Maverick Hybrid) and by this time they should already be in the NHTSA hands.

None of that should matter for testing. Likely they will test what they can get their hands on. The structure is the same for all models. You will probably only see a difference in IIHS testing where they will test the "standard" AEB system as well as the fusion camera/radar "optional" system for two different ratings.

The link I provided lists the HEV model as being tested.

NHTSA testing is largely irrelevant and antiquated. IIHS is who's testing that will matter. They go far more in depth.
You are not wrong, but last I heard the IIHS does not plan on testing the Maverick. So the NHTSA is all we will have to go on.

They will eventually. With the sales being so hot, their insurance company members (IIHS is an org of them) will want some depth in what it costs to fix them and the people who get injured in them - why the IIHS exists. The IIHS is better and more cutting edge in their testing because the audience is interested in their bottom line. The government is just the government.

Where did you hear the IIHS wasn't planning to test it?

How could it not matter, the eco and hybrid have completely different motors, and the hybrid has a lithium battery?

It was an email communication one of the forum members had with an IIHS rep saying they did not have plans to test the Maverick at that time. I guess those plans changed though, which is great!

The only test instance that would conceivably matter is passenger side impact. Otherwise the shape of the conglomeration of plastic and metal beneath the hood isn't significantly part of the safety structure.
