Per state and its technically only about 1.5’ over the back of the tailgate, I think anyone would be fine in any stateNeeds a red flag on the portion hanging way over the tailgate.
28?Wondering if anyone pushed the limit any more than this but I wasn’t willing to go any higher, ended up making 3 trips to get what I needed. Delivery got canceled the morning of by Lowes so the Maverick came to the rescue. Most I put in the bed was 28 sheets and some lumber.![]()

Had a similar experience with a neighbor calling it “sharp”. I was picking up some wood from his house and he complimented the truck and every so often would ask another question or two about the truck. He owned two F150 lariats. Its kinda odd, but I have had the opposite experience. I had a guy in an F250 ask me how I liked the truck, we chatted for a bit and he said it was a sharp looking truck before he drove away. I had another guy at the gas station driving an F150 ask me about it, he said he was planning to put in an order in august and was happy to finally see one in person.
I only had one coworker question the truckyness of the Maverick. I just asked him if he thought the previous gen Rangers are trucks, to which he said yes. I then pointed out that the Maverick could tow more, had a higher payload and is about the same size as that gen of rangers, while getting 41mpg (my current avg measured at the pump).
Had a similar experience with an old timer in my neighborhood. I was picking up some wood he offered me and when I showed up with the Maverick, he immediately complimented it calling it a “Sharp looking truck” he has two F150 lariats. While I was loading the wood, he kept asking questions about it and checking it out. I think I’m going to need a 41+MPG decal for the window! Its kinda odd, but I have had the opposite experience. Could be. I just the first weight I found for 1/2“ sheetrock. I don’t enough if it was 1/2”. Just a guess.Actually, that is Utralight sheetrock. From the specs here https://www.usg.com/content/usgcom/...anels/sheetrock-ultralight-panels.141134.html its 1.25 lbs / sq ft so 40 lbs per sheet.
40 x 28 = 1120 lbs plus weight of the wood

even the 1120 total I think still gets close to the tailgate weight limit. So I personally wouldn’t go anymore than thatSecond picture clearly shows 1/2" 4'x8' Ultralight
Yes, looks like over half the weight is on the tailgate so that would be over 560 lbs on the tailgate.even the 1120 total I think still gets close to the tailgate weight limit. So I personally wouldn’t go anymore than that
I have had alot of people ask about the truck which is inevitable when your one of the first group with the new shiny thing and have shown alot of people the truck even let one drive it (live in the same small town) but typically the ones who make the "not truck" comments are the full size and 3/4 ton trucks.Had a similar experience with a neighbor calling it “sharp”. Those aren’t bungees,…those are flex straps for the flex bedIt took it easy, worked out fine. Was worried the Ratchets would mess up the dry wall too
Was a concern I had with the dipping tailgate — how much that affects weight distribution in relation to tailgate load capacity…Yes, looks like over half the weight is on the tailgate so that would be over 560 lbs on the tailgate.
