Looking at the recall list on the Ford Maverick I count at least 6 and there maybe more. They've been fined $165M by the NHTSA for the delay in recognizing the rear view camera problem and 9 months after knowing about the problem, they still don't have a fix. Maybe there's something wrong with their QMS. Maybe IATF 16949 Quality Certification is just window dressing; because, if it really was a Quality Management System, Ford wouldn't be the world leader in recalls. Maybe it's time they remember the lessons taught by W. Edwards Deming back in the 1980s and back at a time when their slogan was Quality is Job One; then, just maybe they could make a car that wasn't destine for a recall.

LOL what a first post. Go tell that to all the other car manufacturers with recalls. Better yet the car manufacturers with known problems and issues that do not recall or fix the issue.

Actually, they were fined for a 2020 camera recall, not the one on the Maverick.

I don't deny Ford has a quality/recall issue as of late. The only recall I have that might concern me is wiper failure, but I'm sure with the nature of said wiper failure, there will be symptoms that something is wrong. Still have the 2 BCM update recalls for tail lights and turn signals, and the backup camera(which I couldn't give a rat's behind about). Every time I get time to set up an appointment to get recalls done, here comes another one! Well, might as well wait until this new one has a fix. Since I don't care about the backup camera and there's no fix in sight, hoping to get the other three done before spring.

Even though there's outstanding recalls, I have yet to have a single problem with my Maverick. As others have stated, check out the recalls from other manufacturers(even the almighty, do-no-wrong Toyota!)

Obviously the OP isn't old enough to remember the vast number of cars sold in the '70s and '80s that were of very poor quality. Many of those vehicles, even some of the high-end models, were laughable in regards to quality and having one be a reliable and usable vehicle after limping up to 75,000 miles and you see very few of them around today. Today's vehicles are so much more sophisticated and complicated it's rather unrealistic to expect perfection. If you think about it every time Apple and Microsoft send out an update to iOS, MacOS, or Windows it's to fix a problem that has cropped up. It's a good thing I'm retired because I'm not sure my boss would understand if I called it to say I had to take a "personal day" to recover after the screen of my backup camera froze up. (It hasn't yet and I doubt it ever will.)

Yeah... I'm old enough to remember how exciting it was if a car hit 100k miles. Basically, the end of life 😂 . I remember my father had a 1969 station wagon and by the time we put 40k mi on it it was already a big rust bucket. So by comparison to those days today's vehicles are much better built. And I'm sure there are a lot of people here that remember the days of no air conditioning, no power windows, no FM radio, the old cigarette lighter and ashtray, bench seats front. And many other things I don't remember.

Well said!
So many oldsters go on about how things aren't made like they used to be and thank science for that, cars were awful back in the bad old days. I remember my dad going on and on about how great his Chevy II was and that it "only needed tuned up once a month, unless I used farm gas then I had to tune it up every Friday night" or my mom telling me about their old truck, a '65ish Ford that got single digit fuel economy and the heater only worked when it was warmer than -15.
Now we can have cars with power everything, tons of horsepower while still sipping gas around town and lasting to 200-300k miles without it being an occasion.

I remember a friend's dad getting a cake from the dealership because his car made it to some grandiose mileage milestone, 333,333km maybe? I was pretty young and confused why a car was getting a birthday cake but I sure do remember a car getting birthday cake and everyone making a big deal about it.
My parents always started getting stressed out whenever a car got up around 100k miles, wondering when the transmission was going to fail or some other major calamity.
