Younger man here (late 20's - early 30's).

I like the Ranger and F150 but its a lot more than I need. Not to mention their price is cost prohibitive, esspecially when I don't really *need* a truck that big. I just need something that is capable of doing Home Depot runs, trips to the landfill, etc. I previously owned a 2008 Ranger but sold it in about 2019 and regretted it ever since because finding a small truck like that was getting increasingly difficult. Then the Maverick came along and checked pretty much all my boxes. The only thing I had to compromise on was a AWD gas motor instead of an AWD hybrid motor (they hadn't yet announced the 2025 AWD hybrid models when I bought my 2024).

Gen X at 59. Closest I've come to having a Ford Mini Truck before was a 1974 Mazda Rotary Pickup. (COURIER COUSIN) Had a 84 Bronco II, and an 89 Bronco II.

Then a 2000 Lightning 5.4 SC factory lowered, and a 2013 F150 5.0 RCSB lowered by me. Bought a 23 Maverick XL Hybrid, and a 25 Maverick AWD 4K Hybrid. No need to lower them as they are a good height as is.

I broke my knee 36 years ago, and it can cause pain if a vehicle is hard to ingress/egress. Rented a Jeep Wrangler once for vacation in Hawaii, and absolutely hated it. Only reason I ignored the Bronco when it came out.

A former co worker called his element the Toaster because to him it looked like a rolling toaster.😂
Toaster was mostly used on the Scion XB, and Ford Flex. I bought the Ford Version. Wife is driving it now.

I always wondered why Ford didn't call the Sport track a crew cab ranger. In my opinion, that's what it was. I never understood why it didn't sell better.
It had horrible mpg figures. Got worse MPG than many F150's. It didn't make much sense to own, except being more garageable. Guy I know who had a Sport track for his restaurant business, traded it for a Maverick Hybrid. He doesn't miss the sport track. The Maverick was the perfect Sport Track replacement. About the same size, and easily twice the mpg.

I'm guessing it should be close to 600 Horsepower or more its probably about 11.5:1 Compression and has a Solid Roller Cam in it!!
10.5:1 compression hydraulic roller cam.
I had it on the dyno last summer, but
It had too much cylinder pressure because the cam was too small.
It made 541Hp and 650lbft.

Just curious. What's the age of the Maverick owners on this site? I'm 61. Any women owners? At our dealership, most Maverick owners are older (50+) and male. I think I've seen only one female Maverick owner at our dealership. I don't think I've seen any who are under 50. The Maverick seems like it would be something that would be popular with young people given it's practicality and entry level price. But the young people I've talked to personally like the way it looks, admit it'll meet their needs, but aren't interested in buying it because they seem to think it's a old man truck .

Bought mine in Jan of 2022 at age 56, love this truck does everything a homeowner needs

I bought my 24 Maverick as a retirement gift to myself. I just turned 69 this month. I have had trucks in the past. Had a 96 F150 with a 300 and a 5 speed i bought when i was 52. It had some rust but low miles and ran great. Was a real gas guzzler though. I leased a RAM 1500 hemi when i was 58. Loved the power, hated the truck. Too damn big. I had no need for all of that truck, but i got a 2 year lease for $249/mo with no money down so i couldn't refuse the deal plus i wanted a 4x4. The second happiest day was when i picked it up. The happiest was when i gave it back. I love my Maverick as it is all the truck i need and gets 45mpg. My wife even got the "old man edition" trim pieces from Temu and put them on. LOL.

I wanted to like the Sport Track, it was the right sort of shape and size, but man they ballsed up execution WRT gas mileage and weight capabilities etc.

I loved my Sport Trac right up to the point I needed to rent a motorcycle trailer from U-Haul.

U-Haul prohibited any of their trailers from being towed behind Ford Explorers model years 2002 to 2010, including the Explorer Sport Trac.
At that point it became a useless vehicle to me. I sold it within a few months.

If it makes you feel better, my 17 year old son drove it to his all boys high school for a few days while I was fixing his 2009 Toyota Prius. All of his classmates loved the vehicle, including the rich kids who drive Teslas, etc.

They all wanted to hop in the bed and ride around campus. To my knowledge my son was smart enough to not let that happen.

I ordered it when I was 56.
We all rode in the back often. No issues.

I'm mid-30s and the Maverick is perfect for me. The discourse I see in this forum definitely tracks with it being older folks, though.

Even back in the custom mini-truck craze small pickups have appealed to two groups: young people just starting out in life, and retirees. I had an 84 mazda se-5, a 94 ranger, a 2000 ranger, this maverick, and I fully expect to get a Slate in about a year. 4 doors are a waste on me and I'm the perfect use case for an electric runabout. I will wait and see what the 30K ev truck from Ford is like before I decide, but the customizing options on the slate really appeal to me. Don't hate me.

No hate. It works for you.
For me the Slate is totally useless.
When I owned my Rangers what I needed were four doors. I was pissed, Ford sold four-door Rangers in Mexico but not in the US.
