Yeah, The kids want flash and zoom. Us older guys want practical and utility.
I'm 22 and while there are some flashy quicker cars I like, the utility and lower operational cost than a larger truck is highly appealing but honestly if my Mav can't be built since it's a hybrid ordered on 09/19, I might just see if I go for like a Frontier SV Midnight Edition/Pro-X or a Corolla SE Hybrid or Civic Hatch EX-L (but if I got the Frontier I'd probably only be able to afford and would want a 9-3 SportCombi to be my cheaper transportation in that case)

I am buying to replace a 2006 Ford Escape with almost 260K miles on it, went with the hybrid because I drive almost 50 miles a day just for work, current vehicle uses 2.5 gallons per day vs down to possibly 1 gallon!

This purchase will be my first brand new vehicle, I have owned 19 ford/mercury vehicles over the past 26 years

I'm one of the 20-24 year olds. I'm looking at it because 1) same economy as my current hatchback but with the added utility of a bed and 2) it's relatively inexpensive compared to another hatchback.
While yes, I would like a "flashy" car, the utility my first '00 Ranger is something I would love to have again. Most of the Maverick's I've seen in the wild have definitely been middle aged or up though, none as young as me yet and only hybrids (somehow).

Edit: Also obligatory "this is my first post after lurking for a few months".

I needed "work from home and will use truck for truck things the three times a month it is driven" but that would have been a bit wordy.

Is there a way to make this a semi perm site on the club site.
I can't do that, would have to be an Admin that make this a sticky post.
This is my fist poll I made, so I'm glad to see the positive response to the poll and number of members voting on it.

I'm 24 and this would be the first car I buy myself living in a small city (~30000). Liked the Maverick because it was cheap for a new car, gave me the truck utility I liked and the mpg I needed coming from a 2003 Ford Expedition in California. With my order almost certainly being moved to 2023 I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to afford it anymore with cost of living increasing and other things to save for, especially if they increase my price and interest rate (Currently $25888 hoping for 1.9 for 60). I think Ford nailed this truck for people like me as well as older folks, just sucks everything's getting so pricy.

Congrats on your purchase!!!!!

We had an 06 V6 Escape with about 190K miles. Now have a maverick. You’re in for a treat my friend! You’ll have 0 regrets. Even if you have to wait, wait. Maverick hybrid is worth it.

Well, after the first 250 members that cast their vote (thank you BTW). It seems we have formed a picture of the demographics.

Most buyers are in their 60's at 26.8% followed closely by those in their 50's at 20.4%

So, it seems most Maverick buyers are:
Still working, in their 50's and 60's (47.2% combined), Live in the Suburbs, Plan to use it as a daily commute vehicle but like the idea of having truck utility and have previously owned a Ford and a truck.

I think ford was expecting to attract the 20-something crowd to their first pickup and graduate them over the years into Rangers and/or F-series as they got older and had families. Instead, it seems they attracted the older guys who miss their Rangers/S-10s/LUVs/Nissans and who cant or wont pay $86K just haul a sheet of plywood home from Lowes.

Similar thing happened with the Honda Element...

It appears there is a large demand between the ages of 35-45. I guess I should have mentioned that as well, but the 50's and 60's combined had the most votes collectively as a "group".

Have had 1980 Chevy LUV, 88 Toyota pickup,98 S10, 06 Dakota. Currently have a 2011 F150 thing is just way to big for me. Can't park it anywhere poor gas mileage looking forward to a small truck again with good mileage. Dakota was a great size but mileage was also poor.

61, retired Marine. Started with a Dakota, 1988, few Rams, and Tundra. Never considered f-150, hate the angled driver window (door). My dad only owned Fords, lol. Tundra is in great shape and would last me, but no need for full size and parking spots are getting smaller. Ordered Mav for size, parking, and lowes/dump runs. MPG nice, but don't drive a lot. Low confidence will see a 24 hybrid, but will wait and hope.
