But I think there's an elephant in the room called tariffs. Must be fun sourcing parts globally these days and being forced to change suppliers due to huge overnight price changes is always good for cost and quality. Let's blame the manufacturers.

No, it is correct. You're confusing microeconomics with macroeconomics. Yes, the parts are sourced internally but the reason they're source from cheaper suppliers is to sell the product for less.

Retired from an auto parts producer. There are NO huge overnight price increases from suppliers. The prices, quantities of parts, duration of run, etc. are negotiated years ahead of launch. The plant I went to work for had been a machinery customer of mine, it went down the drain after 40 years. Since it was a tier 2 supplier the tier 1 supplier HAD to purchase the building and equipment to meet their contract obligations with the auto manufacturer.
EDIT: I have been in touch with former management there. That plant has had to absorb the cost of tariffs on resin to the point they have laid off 2/3 of the employees. And they customer is looking at alternative plants to produce the parts in China since the parts made here in the USA were being exported to China.

My 2026 Lariat Hybrid gave me a drivetrain warning. Issue is, when it does that and i place it in park the parking brake sets itself and doesn't want to release. After a few tries and turning truck on and off it will release. I should note, the truck has 3400 miles. Am I disappointed? To say the least.

The dealership says they believe it's a parking pawl issue and wants to pull the transmission to inspect. I hate the idea of that with a new truck and reading they have had issues with this in the past and it was addressed with software.

I love the truck. Great gas mileage. I am retired but do some driving for a Honda/Toyota dealer. Did a dealer trade on a Tacoma yesterday. Really nice BUT I averaged 17 mpg. I had a Ridgeline before this and did nothing to it in 90,000 miles. Again, a nice truck but nowhere near as efficient.

Dealership so far has been good. I hope they get it figured out but I won't wait forever or take it back for repair again and again.

Unclear, did you “also” buy a Tacoma yesterday? Depending on how this goes, this dealer may need a “shout out”. Pulling the trans is a nice gesture IMO.

No, I drive for a Honda/Toyota dealership at times. I did a dealer trade for the Toyota dealer. Take a new truck and trade it for another new truck at another dealer for a truck a customer wanted.
