Yes it’s pretty easy to move. And I only store it like that for winter. As the tires are not supposed to freeze. Unfortunately my larger building is not heated so those two get to stay in the heated garage on the house. Had to park them that way to fit both and still leave a space for my wife to park.

How much the trailer weights empty and the miata.

There is no posted weight for that trailer on the internet. Chat GPT thinks it is 1,900-2,000 lbs, but that is how much the Kaufman 16 ft wood deck utility trailer weighs. A Facebook user posted that the Kaufman 16 ft open steel deck trailer weights 1,300 lbs. But I am also skeptical of that, because most 16 foot dual axle ALUMINUM trailers weight 1,300 lbs and this Kaufman trailer is steel.

An ND Miata (2015-present) is 2,300 lbs.
Gas and oil is 100 lbs. Optional spare tire and tongue box is 100 lbs.

The OP stated 3,750 lbs. That would be possible with an aluminum trailer.

I’m wondering if that is weighed at a truck scale, or if it just a guess. My guess is 4,100-4,200 lbs total.

A friend DIY'd a similar trailer in aluminum and it's about 1250 lbs. I doubt steel would weigh the same ...

Looking around, a similar aluminum trailer will be $8,500 to $10,000 : 2.5 to 3x the price of that steel Kaufman

Hello to fellow MTC members from the central Gulf Coast region. Just got this amazing little truck to replace a high mileage Tacoma 4cyl.

Loaded up SATZUMA on the car hauler and went for a shakedown ride. Setting the eBrake control was a breeze and the truck handled the load (3750#) like a champ. With a 4” drop hitch and 2” of squat the trailer bed is level!

Compared to my old Taco this Maverick drives like a sports sedan for daily driving.

That's a sweet ride! I'm an NB Miata fan as well. I had the opportunity to drive the twisties at Miata's at the Gap in 2024. Looking forward to it this year again!

And who says the Maverick can't do real truck stuff? I have done quite a bit of towing with my 22 Maverick (named Lil Britches).

Nice miata, OP. I think I am at over 15 miatas in my life now. That 9lives wang is pretty cool. I really doubt that steel trailer is only 1,400 lbs, though. I paid a premium for an Futura aluminum double axle trailer and it is 1,500 lbs.

Car heavily modified for lightness weighs 2260 coming off track with little fuel remaining, Trailer weighs 1500 with box empty. Fully fueled and box loaded would put me at or just over 4000#. Weigh safe tongue weight measured 375# in that condition on Saturday. I will take it to the scales at some point.

Wow, that steel trailer is very lightweight for its size! Did you know the actual weight before you bought it?

I asked at Kaufman and they said that it weighed between 1300 and 1500# so I guessed on the high side to calculate my total since I know the weight of Satzuma. I am pleased that it weighed today at about 1300# with empty aluminum utility box and spare. Now I am confident that staying under 4k will not be a problem fully loaded with wet traction tires jacks etc. Now I have the car position exactly where the tongue weight is at 10%.
