Maverick Hauls … Towing a Miata

Hello to fellow MTC members from the central Gulf Coast region. Just got this amazing little truck to replace a high mileage Tacoma 4cyl.

Loaded up SATZUMA on the car hauler and went for a shakedown ride. Setting the eBrake control was a breeze and the truck handled the load (3750#) like a champ. With a 4” drop hitch and 2” of squat the trailer bed is level!

Compared to my old Taco this Maverick drives like a sports sedan for daily driving.

Awesome! I have a really fat orange Miata myself… an MS6 I might have to trying pulling it on a tow dolly at some point to not overload it

I likewise haul my rx8 in my enclosed 16’ trailer. It really does haul those things very well.

Honestly you will be fine. My rx8 is hefty compared to the Miata. I haul all my fuel, firewood. Pit. And all my tolls and supplies. As long as you have it balanced well it handles it just fine in the power and stopping department. Oh course with common sense. I cruise around 68mph with my setup and haul it all over the place.
Also haul my focus rs in the same trailer and that is a porky little car.

I’ll definitely need to use a front wheel tow dolly because the MS6 is no joke, the same weight or heavier than the Maverick, so I’ve only got a few hundred pounds left before the limit, haha

These mavericks can haul a decent amount over the 4K. The rs is 3500 curb plus all my fuel trailer and extras. Well over the 4k. Plus I haul 6-8k regularly for work.
Obviously it’s a personal choice but I fell it hauls that load just fine and safely. I monitor the appropriate things via my mycal device and all temps have stayed good even in the hills in the Texas heat.
but just so people know it does and can do it very effectively.
