You are incorrect, sir. A 235 tire and a 225 tire do in fact have different "heights". The poster you quoted is correct. All Mavericks will have the same 8.3" of ground clearance UNLESS fitted with the 235/65R17 Falken Wildpeak tires giving that particular truck 8.6".

Thats not true the rear suspension is different in AWD models. There is no possible way that the ground clearance is the same in two trucks with completely different suspension, regardless of what ford says, you can bet your life on it but I wouldn't.

Approach departure and breakover angles will what limits you when going off pavement on these.
Ground clearance is limited by the low hanging front bumper, but being low in the front gives much better MPG.
You could lift it a little and get (make) a higher clearance bumper. CV angles limit how much you can lift it. You are limited by the small wheel wells in going to a bigger tire size. It is uni-body so you can not do a body lift. No low range, but if you get the 4k tow it has a lower gear ratio that would help some.
At some point you would just be better off with a ranger tremor or the bronco. If I was going to build an off road trail vehicle I would start with something else.
But it should be fine on dirt fire roads and easy trails, and should keep up with subaru's and other non low range awd's. Subarus come with the same 225/65R17 tire size so it is very comparable.

So the best off road Maverick would have all 3 of these options FX4, 4K, 235; fx4 (skid plates, off road modes, hill decent control), 4k tow (lower gears), 235/65R17 A/T Tires (bigger tires help you from sinking as much in soft sand and mud, transmission shift points will be programmed for the bigger tires too)

So because they have a different rear suspension set up, it HAS to have a higher ground clearance? What evidence and proof is there to substantiate that?

Also, it seems you abandoned your 225 and 235 series tires have the same diameter argument. Must have looked that one up and realized you were incorrect.

Sir, 235 and 225 are width of the tires in mm. The tires have identical side wall heights = 65mm, both on 17" rims.

That's not what the 65 means. The second position in tire measurements is Aspect Ratio or percentage of width as sidewall height. So 235 * 65% = 152.75mm. 225 * 65% = 146.25mm.

In P-metric sizing overall tire diameter is not a specification. Nominal width, aspect ratio, rim diameter.

Don’t forget Ford warranties the FX4 version if used for Off Road vs. no warranty using other versions of Maverick without FX4 off roading.

I wonder how the warranty department at Ford defines "off road."

That's not a value listed in 235/65R17. It's an inferred value. In fact, it's not uncommon for same size tires to have 1/2" or more difference in overall diameter.

I am 100% taking the Mav down sandy logging road trails, 2 tracks, to the farm, creekbeds, etc. I have done it with my Mazda CX-7 FWD and always made it through, with no lack of worry about getting stuck, though! Haha

With the Mavvy, there will be no worry of getting stuck with the stuff I do, plus it has .25 - .5" higher ground clearance than my Mazdarati - which has never gotten seriously stuck and I've done crazy sh*t with it. Anyone who thinks the Maverick is a rock crawler, however, is probably in for some unpleasant realities...

This is my first vehicle with AWD. I am super excited. It will be pushed (close) to the limit.
