Looks like all he had was FWD. If you know you're going to use your Maverick to pull a boat out of the water, wouldn't you at least get AWD?

IMO, not sure I would want to pull out a 3k+ lb pontoon boat (on a "possible" smooth slippery wet moss laden boat ramp) and trailer combo with even my 4k tow Maverick.

Maybe a small fishing boat with a 20hp Merc or a couple of jetskis on a jetski trailer?

BTW... funny, but sad... video.
Agree. He's pushing the limits of the truck and it would take very little for something to go wrong and end with both boat and Maverick in the drink.

A FWD with an AWD badge on the tailgate, an FX4 sticker on the bed, and FX4 wheels? It's not impossible.

Dump the extra load in the boat and stop flooring the accelerator. Spinning tires do nothing but create smoke.
I've the same boat on a steeper ramp with a hybrid AWD and never had a problem.

…because you leaned to drive unlike this person. They probably only returned to the ramp after running out of beer.

AI BS or some kind of video hoax. Saw same video for a cummins diesel couldn't pull 2 jet ski's out lol.
I’m sure there are AI fakes of just about everything. Thing is, there were no AI videos 10-15 years ago, and people were still messing up at boat launches with trucks of all shapes and sizes.

A Fx4 in sand mode should’ve resulted in a much better outcome. But we’ll never know for sure.
Also, can’t help but wonder if the PTU went into limp mode to prevent itself from overheating.

I've noted the same. Also, even with the driver in video using normal mode, he isn't giving enough time for the AWD system to work the brakes to improve traction. As soon as the tires start to slip he backs off, rather than continuing to apply power until the system works it out.
Problem is hes driving AWD like you would drive a 4x4. Hes probably used to bigger trucks.

I didn't notice that. I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification. And you're correct, it's not impossible, but one has to look at how hard that Maverick struggled. I stand by my statement that the truck's limits were being pushed which meant no room for error.
