70% front windshield.
30% front sides.
Factory rear.
Overall, Iām happy with it. On a hot sunny day Iād prefer it to be darker but wouldnāt want to make nighttime driving suffer. (Plus already illegal as is, going darker could increase odds of a ticket).
I understand your position and I would also take that position on some things, but I currently have 0 concerns here. Iāll certainly update this thread if any negative effects occur.
Few weeks later, all is still well.
I am not saying this mod resulted in better MPG. But since I did this, my average calculated went from 31.2 to 32.1. (Iāve never reset it)
I like when the vehicle in front of me has them. š
But on a serious note, been considering some especially cause I want to go with a slightly wider tire some day (235/55/19 instead of factory 225/55/19).
I just read that thread. I wouldāve never thought that was a Helmholtz resonator on this engine. Other factory resonators Iāve seen before are very small in comparison. I wouldāve just suspected it to be more of a āfresh air tankā. Fresh air tank sounds stupid but I donāt know how else to...
The way it was positioned in the 2.0 air box, I think it did hinder airflow. Granted, I do not think removing it will be any noticeable improvement to the driver but if I was able to test it scientifically, which I donāt, I bet airflow would be better without it.
Well I removed it! Pretty straightforward, cut to remove it, clean up some of the rough edges, then clean it out good so no plastic goes into the engine. I havenāt had a chance to drive it much but so far all is well!
Before I totaled my 2023 from hitting a deer....I had a Ford drop-in liner for almost 50k miles. I liked it, no complaints. I hauled a lot of firewood and was never concerned about tossing firewood into the bed. The drop in liner takes the abuse no problem and sure was easy to slide stuff...
Thanks! That makes sense after seeing and feeling it. Soooo who is going to be the first to remove it to see if makes any difference in air flow? š Ok Iām sure you wouldnāt actually feel a difference but I am sure tempted.
Back in my younger days of modding cars, a free mod you could sometimes do was gut an air intake box. Some factory intake boxes would be covered in extra plastic pieces likely for sound baffles and more rigidity.
I was curious to see what the 2025 intake looked like. Itās fairly ācleanā no...
Sorry to hear and see! My 23 Lariat with just under 50k miles smoked a doe back in April. 55mph hit it center and perfectly broadside. Knee airbag did deploy. Totaled by insurance.
