After a stint of cold* weather my low tire indicator came on. Check one of the rear tires was 27. The others were 28 but the 27 had the indicator on it. Filled the tire back to 31 lbs. and the light stayed on. It stayed on for about four days and then it reset just today. Not sure of the why on this. Any ideas.

Cold for SoFla.

Not that I have a clue, but I am interested to know that after you filled the tire, did the display reflect 28 for three tires and 31 for the other? Also, when the low pressure warning went away was that still the case?

Did the vehicle sit for three days after adjusting pressure or was it driven?

Great question. I remember my ex-wife's Mini had to be driven for "X" amount of time-and-or-miles to "reset".

Bingo! Mine cold are 35 backs and 36 fronts, when you drive they are up 2-4 lbs. always believed engine and weight in front, a little more air in those tires. Now different story when you get down to -20 or so. Check them in the morning and they’re down to 32 or so psi.

Looks like the same here. Thanks for the input.

My experience with TPMS in all my vehicles is, after the warning displays and I increase the pressure, the system resets after driving for a decent amount of time. About ten miles. It is not an instantaneous readout and is not a substitue for a tire pressure guage.

Strange, as mine will reset in a block or two.
Maybe after Thanksgiving I'll make a video.
Have a safe Thanksgiving.

The tire pressure warning system has a fairly wide hysteresis, meaning it will trip the warning for any ONE tire at about 28 psi but wont turn it off until they ALL reach about 32 psi, either by filling them to that, or because the tires get warm enough--by ambient temp, sunlight, or driving-- to reach 32 psi.
