The issue at least I have with deep sleep has been related to using a 12V tire inflator (20A). Apparently, you cannot directly clamp onto the battery terminals. The negative clamp has to be on a ground, on the remote post near the strut tower, or after the battery sensor.

Or having the dashcam hardwired, I have disabled parking though it seems my camera is not turning off completely. Might need to disconnect the constant power or investigate more.

Mind you, I have the Ecoboost, so the battery is slightly larger.

Hybrid owners have the additional problem with the 12V battery being smaller and there being a wiring harness issue that can cause deep sleep or no start issues.
You raise some interesting and valid concerns. Thanks for the input.

You would need to view the datastream to see what voltage the computer is commanding for charge voltage. 15 volts+ actually isn't that uncommon for modern charging systems as they now want to replenish the energy used for starting quickly and then drop down to a minimum voltage to reduce parasitic engine load.

No matter how long you drive it will never charge up to full and the auto stop won't ingage. Now if you put a wall battery charger on it it will charge up then worked for a few days till it drains back down. The headlights are dimmer and now the lights in the cab won't turn on when unlocking before they did. Very dodgy electrical. The dealership says it's fine been in they're 4 times thr paperwork basicly says the customer is an idiot on it....

They found a problem with the rear camber and refused to order the part after the guy said yes its warranty yes they will order the part they will call when it comes in. Never called 3 weeks so I called told no they won't order the part and the wheel alignment being off isn't a big deal. Ford is a joke

Oh sad I drove it 7 hours 1 day 14 hours none stop the other time will not.charge up... and heated seats were off ac and heat were off. So no drain for several hours the dash lights keep flickering as well. Bright dim bright dim

Yeah, looks like my dashcam regardless if I have the parking mode enabled will drain the battery, I need to hook up both the accessory and permanent 12V supply to an ignition enabled fuse.
Dashcam will not turn on without both connected. Stupid design.

Auto Start/Stop was an issue for me before resetting the BMS. However, the vehicle refuses to relearn the state of charge on the battery from what I can see. I've only gotten it to relearn the battery SoC twice.

In regards to the battery, the vehicle by default will only let the battery charge up to the target level of 80%. After that, 80-85%, the alternator barely outputs more than 1-4A in excess to charge the battery.

You can modify the target level to be much higher using Forscan, though, I messed around with the battery type and I'm running into issues there.

My dashcam in parking mode was part of the problem even though it was hooked up to the fuse panel. Since turning off the park mode, my battery charge lasts longer, but this is a band-aid fix. Ford needs to do more to address this problem and according to reliable YouTube car review people, Ford is moving in towards doing so. Seems to be a software update, but I'd be happier with a better battery.

Down the rabbit hole I go.

Seems like I had at least two issues. BMS reset and reconfiguration of the battery seems to have reset the State of Charge (SoC).
  1. Dashcam Parking Mode (disabled and unplugged for now)
  2. FordPass API Polling Rate (increased from 300 to 10,800 seconds)
The latter issue I've never had a problem with until the last one to three months. Seems like linking my Ford's status to my Home Assistant on a RaspPi seems to have been waking up the truck. Increased the polling rate from 5 minutes to 3 hours, while on the battery charger seems to have enabled to the truck to at least recognize the SoC as 100%.

It appears using FordPass, HomeAssistant plugin, or the iOS widget can cause battery draining issues. Not saying this is the main cause, but, it was one of them. Ford apparently are aware of the problem as it's one of the potential cause of Deep Sleep for the Hybrid Maverick.

Further testing is required.

Is the 5 minute polling rate the default for FordPass comm?
FORScan to change it?

Thanks

Ah no, I meant the 3rd party access. Like HomeAssistant or FordPass iOS Widget (not official app by Ford). There are others, none that I can foresee that apply to the Maverick afaik.

FordPass shouldn't access the vehicle unless you have the app open on your phone and refreshing it.

FORScan can alter the BMS system, enable charging sooner/higher output at lower SoC, or disable it (haven't tried this) so it acts like a regular vehicle without smart charging. In it's current configuration, the alternator only kicks into high amperage if the vehicle senses the SoC below a certain state. Example, my vehicle was at 53-54% SoC and the battery current was 30-38A when first starting. At 65% SoC, the current was at 10-20, at first start.

The Hybrids do also have a way smaller battery and potentially a bad negative terminal on the fuse block.

Problem is the issue compounds with the fact the truck doesn't charge the battery much, if any, due to the BdyCM/PCM and fuel economy. Mine bounces around from -1A to 3/4A during the drive to work, 15mins, 15km (9 miles).

Additional loads or even mods on my end don't help with diagnosing the problem.

My buddy's 2021 Ford Escape has a SoC of 54% and no deep sleep though. 🤷‍♂️

What is the rear camber. Where is it located ? Thanks

Definitely some mysteries we are trying to solve without a full understanding of the engineering decisions made by Ford. And, who knows . . . maybe they just didn't think it 100% through and now have the only option of coming up with solutions.
