In a hybrid unit with the E-CVT transmission, what exactly will the "low" button in the shifter keep low?

If anything you usually want to start out in a higher gear in the ice. More torque multiplication makes it easier to overcome the decreased traction.These comments are comforting. I was picturing freewheeling around in the ice and snow. Lower gearing is a lifesaver. Paddle shifters would be awesome in the slick stuff.
