Does the brake lights activate when decelerating? I tried one pedal driving in town…it is possible but potentially dangerous if car behind you has no warning
I know that Tesla brake lights illuminate when in regen mode even when the brake pedal is not used, it annoys following drivers as the brake lights keep flashing on and off when going down hill.
We should be able to check if we put something on the bed cover to reflect the light from the CHMSL.
I know it's not really relevant but Formula 1 cars flash their 'rain' lights when in regen mode.

I mean the ECVT has a ratio, just because it doesn't shift. I would imagine L would just keep the ratio under a certain upper bound for your given speed. If it didn't have a ratio, you wouldn't be able to move off the line, or keep the engine quiet at highway speed.

The hybrid also has a feature called Grade Assist, where it makes use of regen braking or ice engine braking to reduce speed downhill.

I have a suspicion that L mode isn't really "needed" on the hybrid but it might be nice if you are hitting a steep grade or dirt road and want to keep the power as constant as possible.
Where do I find the Grade Assist you speak of?

If anything you usually want to start out in a higher gear in the ice. More torque multiplication makes it easier to overcome the decreased traction.
Slippery mode is reduced Regen and slower acceleration just like higher gear would be. A plus is no matter which mode you are driving in pushing the L button when coasting will give 100% Regen without friction braking until HVB is 72% SOC and engine braking assist will occur. I use the L button to slow down from 60 to 20 or so when approaching a turn or a small town on highway.

It's automatic. But you can increase assist by pushing the L button on the shifter, or reduce the amount of assist by pushing the go pedal slightly.
