We bought our Maverick hybrid in November we have taken 2 short trips it worked perfect for 3 of the 4 hookups. The last one we could not get it to go into the flat tow mode. We ended up driving it home. Now when we put the key in the ignition it says it is ready to tow but it is no and won’t go in. Help!!!!
thanks in advance

Check the 12V battery charge.

I’m not real familiar with the hybrid is that the battery under the seat? I’m still in old car mode when everything was in one place.

it is.

you can connect a battery charger or jump pack there and read the voltage, or you can put it into engineering test mode, and scroll through the list until you see the 12V battery status. There's a lot of discussion about that here: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/how-to-find-battery-voltage.42976/

the reason I mentioned this is that if you have a low battery it will not enter flat tow mode.

Do you have a battery charge cable hooked up from the RV to the Maverick?

If not, I believe this is absolutely crucial to flat towing a Maverick!

Your issue is just one reason why, as it may keep it from actuating neutral tow if battery voltage is not where it needs to be.

We have never towed it more than 2 hours we’ve only done 2 short trips. What normal recharges that battery and is it the one under the back seat. It has a full charge and still no luck. 😿

I have heard of this happening with XL and XLT Mavericks. Disconnect the battery under the rear seat for a few minutes. Some wait 10 minutes, not sure if it takes that long. Then reconnect battery and most of the time it will fix the neutral tow issue. For that occurrence.
Regardless, adding a charging wire is very good advice even for a two hour trip. I know it doesn't seem right but there IS a drain on the battery while flat towing. Yes, the Hybrid system battery has power, but the battery under the seat does not seam to charge from that battery while in neutral tow. Since these systems are VERY voltage sensitive, keeping the 12v battery fully charged is critical to eliminating flat tow issues.

Full charge on the 12v battery under the seat should never be below 12.6 to 12.8 volts. Higher will be measured right after running the Maverick, but that is flash charge and will dissipate.

Thank you this makes sense. We always carry a jump pack with us.

Correct. You can only flat tow with a hybrid. And only with a charged 12V battery.
