Locked me out again.

Twice now my Maverick (hybrid) has locked me out with the key in the ignition. The first time the key was off. I got out and closed the door, the second it closed I heard the doors lock. This week the engine was on and I got out and closed the door and they locked again. This time it was down pouring. Luckily I have a keypad to unlock the doors. Has anyone else experienced this?

Anyway to shut the auto locks off in the manual? I have the same issue with the wife's Tucson hate that feature. Sucks it keeps happening.

Yes, early on it happened a few times. I would try to figure out how it happened and trace my steps, but I never figured it out. It has not happened to me in a long time. As a result I got very familiar with my keycode. What was most weird about it, it was Only the drivers side door that would lock.

That is strange, I haven't tried my Maverick yet, but with my old Taurus the only way you could lock the doors with the key in the ignition was with the remote. Sounds like something is possibly malfunctioning.

download the ford pass app. with it you can lock/unlock your doors, and start it. great on hot days or cold mornings. you can even set a start schedule

Odd. Usually cars make you confirm you want to lock the doors if you leave the vehicle running and get out. My Saturn requires I hit the lock button twice even with no key in the ignition if I try to use it with the door open. As my Escape has that intelligent FOB, the car just voices its disapproval that I got out of the car with the fob in my pocket if I leave it running but I am still able to lock it.

Happened to me once so now I don't leave my key in the ignition any more.

Mine's an XL so I've no keypad option. (It's also Velocity Blue like yours - is that a clue?)

Key was in the off position... I went up the driveway to get my neighbor and her walker and returned to a locked truck.

Good thing the window was open - I didn't think of using FordPass to unlock.

Happen to me twice. I thought I may have touched something when getting out. Seems to me I saw a video or a post that on the top of the door handle are a set of ridges when touched, lock the door. Tried it but didn't lock the door. Yes, it does happen.

Our Maverick has experienced this drivers side door locked randomly several times. I even returned it to the dealership for evaluation and they kept the truck overnight to see if they could replicate the locking door. They were unsuccessful in duplicating the locking and mentioned they would search Fords data bases for the same issue. They never called back with a response. My wife had noticed that when I opened the door to exit she thought that I may be inadvertently pushing the lock lever closed, thereby locking the door after my exit from the truck. ( photo of locking lever and door handle). To test her theory I have been very cognizant of where I place my hand when opening the door to exit and not touching the locking lever. Since then I have not been “randomly “ locked out yet. Time will tell but I think she is right on this resolve to the drivers door locking randomly!

I used to leave the keys in my vehicles until my boss had a van that had a door lock that was easily pushed when getting out. After being locked out far away from the office, I stopped leaving the keys in any vehicles, even at the gas station.

Hey there. Can you send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to take a closer look at this lock issue your Maverick is experiencing.

Yes, I have an Ecoboost FX4 and every time I pull up to our properties gate this happens.
I pull up, get out with the engine running (key start), open the gate and return to a locked truck.
I think, maybe, the other doors aren’t locking but wouldn’t swear to it.
I thought I was fat fingering the lock-unlock button when grabbing the door handle, now I am thinking I wasn’t.
I changed my iPhone access code to my keypad code, I have used it several times since. Very aggravating .
