I posted a discussion a few years back related to the gear shift locking after starting the vehicle. Initially it happened to my wife when we first got the truck 2 years ago. She was stranded in a parking lot. Well, the darn thing happened again as I was teaching my granddaughter to drive. Parked on an moderate to steep driveway incline. Emergency brake on. I instructed her to place her foot on the brake and start the car (hold until "Ready" indicator light). Keep foot on the brake, place the gear in reverse. Shifter locked tight. Repeated with various modifications, such as not placing her foot on the brake "too firmly". After repeated attempts, I tried with the same results the first time, but successful the second attempt. It doesn't seem like it should take a "magic process" to place your vehicle in gear!
Seems as you get a feel for how your vehicle operates, it is never an issue. But trust me, it makes me apprehensive about getting stranded some day.
Anybody else ever run into the problem?
Truck is a 2024 XL hybrid. Love the truck.
