Assuming you have an XL with no keypad on the door pillar. Otherwise would not be a big deal.

FWIW, have not had this happen with my truck.
I have an XLT w/Lux and have this pillar keypad. My wife and I enjoyed it early on when kayaking and other water activities, allowing me to leave the keyfob locked in the vehicle.

That was great until I started having the TSB-22-2340 no power issues. The pillar keypad is useless with no power. Hybrid owners should keep that in mind as I had no issues whatsoever prior to ~22,000 miles.

I've used the Fordpass app to unlock a couple of times I forgot my keys in there.

My 2000 Taurus won’t even allow locking if the key is in the ignition.
My Maverick XL is the same. If the key's in the ignition and I try to lock the doors, they will auto-unlock after about ½ second.

These trucks are rolling computers. Exactly why I ordered zero optional technology. Gizmos are nice when they work, not so nice when they don't. For example, my iPhone is virtually flawless, my iMac is a piece of shit.

i had a 2022 where the driver door would lock automatically but the passenger, and two rear doors would remain unlocked. I ended up selling the vehicle before i looked into resolution. Ordered a 2023 Lariat instead. The xlt had remote unlock on my cell so that is how i bypassed the issue. it was inconvenient though. i always worried i would leave my phone in the vehicle as well. it did take long for the door to lock either. if i dropped someone off at the airport for example, by the time i got the luggage out of the bed and said goodbye it would lock.

Mine is locking itself all the time. Fortunately I learned the keypad code and just use that when the keys are in it.

yeah, on the farm pretty routine to hop out with the keys in it while I check on something, etc. Come back a few minutes later and it’s locked.

You may someday regret not getting a door Keypad...to unlock the door. Would have been locked out twice without the keypad.

Just got locked out in the last 30 days. Normally would never leave key in the vehicle but was just getting out for a few seconds to get something and got locked out. There's no good place on the Maverick to hide a spare key. Just glad I have the door keypad to get back in.

I've heard the new(ER) Mavericks do not have the KeyPad on the door post.

I got the keypad as I have an 03 XLT so standard equipment. Yes, that is one piece of simple tech I cannot live without having had it on my last classic Ranger. I am partially a Luddite, not 100%. :ROFLMAO: It is the optional stuff I do not think is worth it given what they charge versus my perceived gains of having it. Everyone's mileage will vary.

Just weird, got out of Maverick to pickup newspaper, left the door open and it still tried to locked itself.

Maybe not the same but I traced my inopportune lockouts to my big fat paw hitting the manual lock button. Keypad to the rescue and if I’m not mistaken the other doors were unlocked anyway.

My 22 locked me out once with engine running. Back doors were open so no damage except confusion.

Hasn't happened since so chalked it up to user error.

They can order the keypad if they want it.

I'm glad my XL will not lock if the key is in the ignition.
