They can order the keypad if they want it.

I'm glad my XL will not lock if the key is in the ignition.
I've had my xl lock the door several times. Luckily I've had the same problem with my Nissan rogue and I've learned to open my window whenever I get out with the key in it. (It does only lock the drivers door)

I agree it shouldn't be happening and Ford should figure out why this is happening and fix it.(Yea right!🤣)

Wife and I do this with any car we own. Kids and too many other things can go wrong. In general cars shouldn't be left with key in the ignition and no one in the driver seat.

Saw a truck running outside the pizza place last night with no one in it. Very much wanted to relocate it behind the building and stick around to watch the owners face on the way out 😈 😁

LMAO I currently have a Rogue and I do the same exact thing. Definitely learned my lesson. LOL

I can’t lock it with the keys in the ignition, but it can lock itself with the key in the ignition

This reminds me that I need to get magnetic boxes and additional keys made for the Mav and wife's current car.

Something as simple as additional keys has become $$$ and a pita. Have to go pretty far to get someone who can make a reasonably priced Honda key.

Good news is that there is a post here about programming a new XL Mav key easily and cheaply!

I've never had that happen. But then, I never leave the key in the ignition or inside the truck - ever. I remove it as soon as I park & shut down the truck.

Yeah, some of us might be odd balls, but I don’t lock my vehicles when they are parked on the farm. It’s gated and in 25 years rare is the time a stranger ventures onto the property and never (so far) with nefarious intentions. There are much softer targets.

And as I mentioned before, when working it’s common to leave keys in the vehicle. Heck, last night I commuted home on a tractor and my maverick is at the machine shed with the keys in it… locked by me this time, since I knew I wasn’t coming back.

So I can tell you that in the almost 3 weeks of ownership, my Maverick locks itself about 50% of the time. Keys wherever.

I’ve had my driver door lock 3 times in the first 2 weeks of ownership. 23 Lariat with remote start, FordPass. Each time the fob was in the truck. The other doors were unlocked. Sending an unlock command though the app didn’t affect the driver door. I believe the last time I sent a lock then unlock command and it worked, but I’ll have to make sure if the situation happens again. 2 times I reached in from either the window, or from the rear door to pull the inner latch to open the door. Very weird.

I have the same problem, in my case I found it was my hand hitting the manual lock button.

It happened to me twice this past weekend. I was at home working in the bed and i heard it lock, then i got a message from fordpass saying that features had been disabled and i couldn't use the app to unlock it. Had to get my 2nd key.

If that was the case, wouldn’t sending an unlock command unlock the door?

No clue, I just checked the rear door and it was unlocked, like the other two on the passenger side. Not saying my problem was anyone else’s but it sure was mine. Did do one thing, caused me to remember my unlock code.

Oh Crap! Now I'm jinxed because I read this. So far it has never happened on either of my Mavericks. At least my CO Hybrid has the key pad on the door post. Then again, I never leave my key in the truck without me in there too.
