Kia Homelink mirror installed

I have read this thread and still not sure of 2 things:

Can you make the homelink only work when the key is turned on? I park in the driveway, my wife parks in the garage. I do not want the garage door opener operable when the key is off, parked in the driveway.

Also, does the compass need to be wired to all the time hot( battery power), to retain the direction?

Yes. Choose your power correctly (NOT "Always on") and wire both wires together to the +12 volt supply and then everything works properly, only when you turn the truck on. The compass retains its setting, once you calibrate it, even if you leave the truck off for weeks (like we did my wife's when we went on vacation).

If they don't send the mirror right away contact them. I placed my order on the 13th and they had not shipped. I contacted them today and it was delayed because I did not provide a VIN number.

I ordered on Thursday (12th) evening. Just got email this afternoon requesting VIN. Replied via em to mark non-refundable & send it.
Will call in the AM.

Edit: Mine arrived Mon (20th). Install will have to wait a bit. “Feels like” temp 115 outside today.

I bought 2 of the mirrors over a year period, one for my truck and as soon as I ordered my wife's truck.
The first time, I was asked for a VIN in a follow-up email a couple days after the order and I told them no VIN, and that I was accepting the order as non refundable. When I ordered the second one, I just included the same statement to avoid the VIN check delay.

Foodie, this is dadd75, your neighbor in Greer. Well, this morning I finally installed my homelink mirror and all works and is fine. I really like the compass display, easier to see then looking down to the dash, and garage door opener on the mirror is great! Just have to wait till dark to see how the self dimming feature works. If you here of any Maverick meet-ups in our area, let me know.

If you ordered from the place listed a few posts above (Horne KIA in AZ), I ordered on Thurs evening (12th), got an email on Tues requesting a VIN, replied to EM Tues evening & called Wed AM. Got tracking # Thurs, USPS had it Fri PM, & I received it in NE FL Mon (20th).

Did you put in the note section on the order that the VIN is not required? If not give them an email and they will send it along without the VIN confirmation.

I contacted them via email and told them I accept all responsibilities just ship it and the next day it was shipped. Since I'm not putting it in a Kia and my VIN wouldn't work with the mirror.

If the Kia mirror is in short supply, I ordered the homelink/autodim/compass mirror for the Hyundai Palisade - it was around $32 shipped and showed up within a week of placing the order at the start of the month.

Seems like there was a box to check stating 'no vin' or something? I will reply to the email and see if there is any movement.
May have to go with the Hyundai if no answer. My luck I would end up with 2 .

I got the 'we need your vin' email, and told them to just send it, I will not return it.
They replied that it is now on back-order for 3-4 weeks.
For $33.00 shipped, I told them to go ahead and put me on the list, I can wait.
Gives me time to watch the install videos a few more times.

Arrived today & installed in 30 minutes. Love have the dimming mirror and built in garage door openers, no more clip on garage door opener on the sun visor....

I used @Crowman directions for wiring up the mirror to the proper colored wires coming off the dome light harness. I used the included pigtail for the mirrors harness, cut it down to 7". As the pigtail was 4' long before cutting.

Still surprised how inexpensive this mod was, 31.85 shipped isn't bad at all. 20.38 for the mirror and 11.47 for shipping. I keep the compass off as I really only wanted it for the openers and dimming at night.
