Let us know if you get it and the price and how it works out? Thanks so much! I appreciate the alert!
That sounds like a good dealWell I got one in the mail yesterday, I had already ordered it a week and a half ago. Haven't installed it yet. But it doesn't have homelink, and I'm not sure if I really need it, or not, based on where we are living. I do want the auto dimming feature, however. And the Kia mirror I got was $15, with an $11 shipping charge. So I thought that was pretty good. Steve's going to install it tomorrow, but if he thinks I need to hold out for the one with the homelink, I'll just order the one that was just suggested.
I have a 2024 Hybrid Lariat and wired my Kia Auto-Dimmer mirror just like Norm specified in his YouTube video by splicing into the dome light wires. The mirror works great but now I get an error that the front camera that it is not functioning and forward collision is off. I noticed that the wires from the front camera, another device on the windshield and the dome light harness all combine into the same wiring cord that runs down the driver's A-pillar. My guess is that at least one of the wires used from the dome lights ties into a wire from the front camera, throwing the camera fault. I think I now will have to run the power for the mirror directly from the passenger fuse panel to take care of this problem. Any thoughts?
So, I took my car to the dealership to see why I was getting the front camera fault. It turns out that the Kia auto-dimming mirror tapped into the dome light harness was not the cause for the fault. Instead, it was caused by my wiring the dashcam to the passenger fuse panel. I thought slots 3 and 20 were not used, so when I installed the Tap-a -fuse, I only put a fuse on the new circuit not the original circuit (there are 2 slots for fuses in the tap-a-fuse). Apparently, the front camera uses the slot 3 circuit (which is actually designated in the manual for an auto-dimming mirror that is not available on any of the 2024 models), even though the labelled fuse for the front camera is under the hood. Go figure!
That video is awesome, definitely adding this to my to do Mod List... The added garage opener is just icing on the cake for the low cost of the mirror. This might help as well.
Yes the wiring pigtail is included along with so plastic ties and insulating foam strips. It also comes with a little plastic white piece that looks like some sort of clip that I have no idea whats it for. That video is awesome, definitely adding this to my to do Mod List... Does the Kia mirror with homelink and compass include the wiring pigtail the gentleman uses in the YouTube video for install? Tia...
Some tried to put an order through and the order was canceled a few days later so I think the $13.99 has been sold out. I bought the $20 one on the 13th and still have not got a shipping date.Is the one in the link for 13.99 no longer available? Or did they UP the cost due to popularity???
wiring is included. Also has a plastic wire cover (not needed), 10 or so black zip ties, 6 pcs black foam rubber, the white piece (Kia replacement clip for A pillar), three T taps ( wires already have blade end attached except ground that has ring)Yes the wiring pigtail is included along with so plastic ties and insulating foam strips. I believe if you wire the black/white wire and the middle wire on the mirror harness to the purple wire on the truck harness it will only work in ACC or when truck is on. The ground from the mirror will go to the black/blue wire on the truck harness. Not sure how the compass is wired through the harness. All I had to do was drive around for a few minutes to calibrate the compass.I have read this thread and still not sure of 2 things:
Can you make the homelink only work when the key is turned on? I park in the driveway, my wife parks in the garage. I do not want the garage door opener operable when the key is off, parked in the driveway.
Also, does the compass need to be wired to all the time hot( battery power), to retain the direction?
Thanks if I missed these points.
