I do this intentionally. Between FordPass app and security keypad, it’s nice to never need to carry the key around. Sure it’s a small safety concern but I’ll take the risk.

Oh my...bad. I just went outside to find the lock lever I didn't know I had. Yes, it could be deadly if I accidentally locked myself out while off-roading mid-summer in the middle of Death Valley.Come on dude… seriously for the HUNDRETH time on this forum it is not the “button”….. It is the “lever.”![]()
Patrick this video demonstrates how easy it is to inadvertently lock your driver's door while pushing it open.Oh my...bad. I just went outside to find the lock lever I didn't know I had. Still... the silent lock lever is pulled OUT to the unlock position when I swing the latch handle open. How could one pull the latch handle open while pushing the potentially deadly silent lock lever in the opposite direction? I guess I need to go out & try it... Maybe tomorrow.
I'm sorry for being a smart ass.
Thank you.
Carry on!

Thank you, Glen.Patrick this video demonstrates how easy it is to inadvertently lock your driver's door while pushing it open.
The good news is that the other passenger doors may still be unlocked.
You're welcome.Thank you, Glen.![]()
Just give it a rest people, he obviously doesn’t understand the difference between latches and buttons, loud clicks versus no clicks! 🥱Oh my...bad. Has happened on my 2023 a couple as well.Yes, they removed the staple Ford door keypad and Enabled a feature that locks the door with the key inside for the 2025.
Baffling.

Mike,Friend last night in his Rav4.
Ended up with 2 key fobs for some reason - after a hike, one fell out inside somewhere - he couldn't fob or handle lock it with one on outside, because it knew. Couldn't find it either in low light.
Mentioned complaint of Mav owners and what they accidentally did.
He got in - locked all button - opened his door - pushed in lever - closed door - done.
Just no alarm set he thinks, since fob not used to lock.
So compared to that - the Mav actually has an improvement, as tested in prior post.
Can fob lock all and arm the alarm - with another fob left in cabin.
I like to go keyless myself, in every aspect of life. Door keypad is the answer, I don't care if it locks or not. Leaving the FOB inside and locking the doors is a feature, not a bug.I do this intentionally. Between FordPass app and security keypad, it’s nice to never need to carry the key around. Sure it’s a small safety concern but I’ll take the risk.
The real sad thing is, some folks have left the form because they were unwilling to accept actual examples of how they were locking the door.@Glen Baker LLC @HeyBales @Meeka @Kenv24
I'm sorry.
Before now, I'd never heard of or noticed the silent lock lever.
I checked out this thread expecting to find others who'd experienced the same random self-locking phenomenon that (I thought) had been my experience. I did.
And then I found what looked like condescending voices mocking these people I could relate to, & felt compelled to enter the (perceived) fray.
Mind you, a silent locking lever was in the realm of things I didn't know and didn't know I didn't know.
I was SURE that I wasn't somehow accidentally pushing the lock button. I was sure that I was right. I was sure that some of you were aggressively tryna make some of us wrong, that you were arguing that there was simply no way the truck could lock itself...
So I persisted.
I thought some of you guys were being smart asses, so I thought I'd be a smart ass.
I was wrong. I was a dumb ass. A wrong dumb ass who didn't know it and didn't know he didn't know it.
I'm sorry.
Sincerely,
Patrick
