My 2025 is the first FOB vehicle I've ever seen that lets you accidentally lock yourself out with the FOB inside. Has happened to me a few times because the doors seem to lock themselves arbitrarily. But I have luckily had my phone in my pocket and could unlock them through the app. But today I left both the fob and my phone in the car when I jumped out to move something and the door locked automatically behind me and I was locked out of the running truck. Had to call my wife to drive over with her FOB. My previous cars were unlockable when the fob was inside the car. You could lock them from inside but as soon as you open the door to get out all of the doors would unlock.
I also hate the arbitrary horn beeping that happens sometimes when you get out of the car and shut the door behind you. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for when it does that. I'm apologizing to startled bystanders all the time.

🤔 I think, I've heard something about this "Autolock" phenomenon 🤣🤣
Good news, enough customers complained, that they're bringing back the wired keypad.

Yes, YOU can lock your keys in the truck. Check out post #19 to see how You are doing it.

You are about to be inundated with all kinds of why, why, why,. You might just consider spending about $165 and get the keypad installed. Works for me!!!
I concur with the keypad. I used it today to get my sunglasses so I could shovel snow. Didn't have to go back in the house to get the fob. Worth the cost!

If the keypad is installed post-factory, do they have to cut through the door paint?

Yes, they removed the staple Ford door keypad and Enabled a feature that locks the door with the key inside for the 2025.

Baffling.
You could ALWAYS lock the key inside. I believe the idea behind the fob is to keep it in your pocket. By the way, if I'm not mistaken , the Maverick keypad was always a dealer installed add on.

Because of the cutout in the door pillar. The wired keypads were a factory installed option.

The keypad was a standard factory installed item on the XLT/Lariat trims in 2023. I have it and use it all the time. It was discontinued for 24's, but could be an optional dealer installed stick on.

Nope keypad was standard from the factory. At least on the 2022 and. 2023 XLT.

Yes, you CAN lock the key inside on a 2022-2024 Maverick.

From what I've read on here, including this post, the 2025 locks on it own with the key inside.

My keypad was factory installed also.

🤔 My '23 automatically UNLOCKS the drivers door if the truck is running and I try to lock the door when exiting.

Not saying your truck isn't possessed, Lord knows they all seem to do some weird stuff.

Possibly another instance of depressing the MANUAL lock lever when opening the door? This has been mentioned here - seemingly to many times to count - next time it happens check the other doors. They MAY not be locked.

The search function is always looking for something to do....

What about the most cost effective option ?

Just don’t lock your keys in your car !
