2023 maverick hybrid; It will be 2 years having maverick on 11/2/25. Currently 9700 miles Your thoughts?
If ordering a 26 in November this year, I will have forfeited about 5 months of 36000 mi warranty if a 26 maverick arrives in May.

I could keep the maverick until order window for 27 maverick comes up in November of 26 and buy a year warranty and cancel after 5 mths when the 27 maverick arrives. I just don't know what the cost would be for 5 mths warranty. I guess the highest cost for a year warranty is at the beginning of ext warranty. So maybe ext warranty would be $600 for 5 mths.

Alternative: order in november of 25 for a 2006 maverick and sell my 23 maverick with about 102000 mi on it still leaving about 7 mts of warranty on it to the seller.
That maybe a good selling pt.

Ordering a 26 maverick with new sales taxes. But ultimately I would have to pay if I kept my 23 and waited another year before buying a 27 maverick which would be at an increase over buying a 26.

So your thoughts
I also have a 23 lariat hybrid with less than 10,000 miles on it and it’s like a new truck. Why would I trade it? Why would you go to the expense of a new vehicle? I bought a 10 year warranty and made an agreement on mine with zero deductible for 100,000 miles in 10 years and I’m keeping it until the wheels fly off
I also bought the maintenance agreement, which is turning out to be Smart now that oil changes are running around 100 bucks and all the other parts are doubling in price

Other than the mechanical and Sync improvements on both the EB and hybrids for '25. Ford has only decontented the Maverick while increasing the price every year. Cruise control standard starting on the '23XL's is the only exception. I think your '23 is the sweet spot before much decontenting really got going. Just look at it over the years: auto up/dn windows restricted, folding rear seat armrest gone on XLT, keypad gone, heated wiper park, real leather steering wheel cover, digital temperature controls, physical HVAC controls, spare tire limited, passenger seat six way adjustment on Lariat, and probably more I forgot or don't know about. I think the XL is the only trim not actually decontented, but after '22 is color limited with no moon roof or rear sliding window availability. For the money, I would keep what you've have until you get your value out of it. If it's warranty you're worried about, an extended is a whole lot cheaper than trading up. Especially when considering all taxes involved and higher insurance rates. All this being said, an unusually good deal as @710-oil-614 and others discussed could make it worthwhile if you want/accept the new features.
I do like your response. You present data and not just a bunch of talk.
I don't like the idea of buying ext warranty i.e. buy 3 yr warranty and first year is still under manufacturer warranty of 36,000 miles. thats crazy. I would hate to see the cost of a a/c unit replaced which the warranty for my maverick will be gone Nov 26.

I bring in data like cost of brakes eventually, tires, 12v battery and an aging hybrid battery which will lower the value of the maverick after owing it 5 years.

The maintenance cost of keeping the 23 which I like could be gone and that money used for a 26 maverick. right?

I don't know still but I do thank you, especially by not being so sarcastic. Data is important when making decisions. Data has to be specific that then makes the decision maker feel more confi

Is it true though if you buy a 10 yr warranty your really only getting 7 yrs of warranty since the manufaturer warranty is 36,000 miles any way. I only heard a person on forum supply that info.

How much did that warranty cost you? I won't want a warranty would cost me since i already have 10,000 miles and 2 years on it?

So you’ve had it with the dash rattle? That’s what’s driving you to Toyota?

Enjoy your Tacoma when the transmission grenades. Or enjoy your Tundra when the engine explodes…
There are reports of a Maverick competitor under the Tacoma in a few years.

I bought both my 10 year maintenance agreement and 10 year service agreement from Granger motors at just a little bit over their cost. The cost for the service agreement was $2150. The maintenance was 1400. I hear that those prices may have doubled by now.
I’m covered till 2033 up to 100 K miles with no deductible also added the lights package and those bowls are ridiculously expensive. I plan on keeping the vehicle for 10 years so I’m good to go.

None of that makes sense. 1st, if you are worried so much about the Maverick lasting past it's warranty , why buy another one? 2nd, buying a new Maverick because warranty is expired with only 10 or 11k on the odo is going to be wayyyy more expensive, 3rd, the gas engine on the Maverick is pretty bulletproof and the battery should last you a good 100k miles not just 5 years at the rate you are driving the vehicle, 4th, new Mavericks have gone up in price considerably so you won't get a deal at all, 5th, any vehicle wears down, brakes and tires are not an excuse to buy a new car. Come on man, have some sense, enjoy your truck and your money.
So you have a hybrid. How many miles on your truck?
Did you buy and ext warranty? If not how many years of warranty? How long do plan to keep your maverick?

If you keep it longer then 3 yrs., did you or will you buy ext warranty? If not buying ext warranty, then why not? I don't have one now. Thanks for your responses.

If you keep the truck more then 3 yrs you agreed you will have mainteance cost 12v battery, brakes, tires that you wouldn't have with buying a new car, therefore that savings could go to buying a new car.

thanks for reminding me to enjoy my truck. I am enjoying a lot.

I personally would only replace an under 3 year old vehicle if it has been unreliable, and then I wouldn't be buying the new version of that vehicle. Or if I realized that some feature I found I didn't have was really important.

It would also depend on how my finances are. Is this spare cash after keeping a good emergency fund funded? And good progress toward saving for retirement?

A few of the features I wanted, but don't think are true needs were AWD and 4K towing, along with the front view cameras and ACC. Not important enough for me to spend the money to replace my truck with 3700 miles on it. I bought mine with the hope that I use it for at least 10 years.

My 2022 Ecoboost has 36,000 miles on it now, and I go through the same calculations every few months. My Ecoboost has depreciated about $10,000 in inflation adjusted terms (people on MTC love to feel better by not inflating their purchase into 2025 dollars).

Everytime I'm tempted - and my dealer has a discounted 2025 lot-lemon just like my truck that I would love to buy - I remind myself that $10,000 buys a LOT of maintenance. And that my powertrain warranty still runs to 5 years and 60,000 miles, along with roadside assistance. A great deal really. And frankly, I'm totally underwhelmed by the 2025 refresh.

I'm chilling right now. Lots of new product arriving on the market soon. A full redesign of the Santa Cruz (I say that because its sister vehicle, the Tucson, was just totally redone). The Slate. A possible Toyota. The new Ford skunk project. And who knows what else will be dropped on the market without warning. So I figure - "let's see what's on offer next year". And I stick with what I have.

But that's just me. We're all different. There is no right answer.

For as little as you drive I don't see the value in trading for a new one. I have had my 2025 since January and it already has 9,850 miles on it.

That being said it doesn't hurt to kick the tires on what you may receive for your 2023, and what deal you might get on a 2025.

Personally if going for a 2026 - I would look to see if a 2025 fits what you want and go for that.

Are you looking to upgrade for AWD or 4K tow?
You mentioned a 25 as a potential. Was it because price would be maybe 2000 less then a 26?

Thanks for suggestion. No I am not looking for awd, living in south florida.
I love the 23 hybrid I have.

Just trying to ask others to contribute data in deciding to order a 26 vs. buying ext warranty in year when the 36,000 miles ends.

I know if i keep 23 i will have to buy tires, 12v battery within a year. And if keep it for another 2 yrs maybe brakes. That money could then be used to purchase a new truck.
Just hope no a/c issue when truck reaches 3yr warranty. because hybrid ac expensive.

Your logic is very bizarre. You won't need brakes until close to 100k miles and you won't be needing tires any time soon with less than 10k miles. If you really think you need a new battery that is only $130 on Amazon. Keep the truck and buy a warranty if you want peace of mind. You will come out way behind to buy new. Mavericks have only got more expensive each year.

2025 Maverick XLT hybrid, paid off, no extended warranty and not planning to buy any warranty, planning to keep the vehicle for about 10 yrs. Currently at 13k miles. Brakes, tires, 12v batteries oil changes etc EVERY vehicle out there needs that stuff. Like I said, take care of your vehicle and it should last that long without issues. The 2.5 duratec engine in these Mavericks is bulletproof and the Hybrid battery should be good for at least 100k miles. Buying the exact same vehicle after a mere 3 years of use and 11k miles makes absolutely no sense at all, especially since you are skeptical about the Maverick reliability and current market conditions.

Why don't you wait until the Hybrid battery warranty is over before selling if that's a major concern? 8 years and a 100,000 miles is a way down the road for you.

https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/warranty/warranties-and-coverage/what-is-my-battery-warranty/
Thanks for the link. thanks for question. Wonder how much a hybrid battery would cost based upon inflation in 6 more years.

Now you got me thinking about keeping it 8 yrs. I would not have to consider what the cost would be for a 26 maverick. and compare it to keeping my maverick, with cost for future tires, 12v batteries every 3 yrs. brakes at 5 yrs and an ext warranty for 5 yrs
and then devaluating my 23 maverick for 5 yrs. if waiting to buy a 28 maverick.

Also i would buy a 26 with cash so no interest

that's a lot of thinking i might be dead by then. I will be 72 this december.
