2023 maverick hybrid; It will be 2 years having maverick on 11/2/25. Currently 9700 miles Your thoughts?
If ordering a 26 in November this year, I will have forfeited about 5 months of 36000 mi warranty if a 26 maverick arrives in May.

I could keep the maverick until order window for 27 maverick comes up in November of 26 and buy a year warranty and cancel after 5 mths when the 27 maverick arrives. I just don't know what the cost would be for 5 mths warranty. I guess the highest cost for a year warranty is at the beginning of ext warranty. So maybe ext warranty would be $600 for 5 mths.

Alternative: order in november of 25 for a 2006 maverick and sell my 23 maverick with about 102000 mi on it still leaving about 7 mts of warranty on it to the seller.
That maybe a good selling pt.

Ordering a 26 maverick with new sales taxes. But ultimately I would have to pay if I kept my 23 and waited another year before buying a 27 maverick which would be at an increase over buying a 26.

So your thoughts

For as little as you drive I don't see the value in trading for a new one. I have had my 2025 since January and it already has 9,850 miles on it.

That being said it doesn't hurt to kick the tires on what you may receive for your 2023, and what deal you might get on a 2025.

Personally if going for a 2026 - I would look to see if a 2025 fits what you want and go for that.

Are you looking to upgrade for AWD or 4K tow?

Why are you changing so soon? Did you realize you need a different feature or trim level?

I plan to look at what Toyota has to offer in the future. I'm over the dash rattle and other small things that are starting to fail (like axles).

I get it, it was a cheap vehicle, but didn't expect it to fail so quickly. I planned on keeping long term but frankly my trust is shot with Ford lol. First and only Ford vehicle, sadly my grandfather was a Ford mechanic for 40+ years.

Currently have a 2023 with 8,400 miles on it.

Have you looked into the depreciation of your vehicle? Assuming that’s something of value.
I did, and it has lost about 30% value in 3 months with 4K miles only.

Carvana for me still strong. About 1k under what I paid OTD for my 24 in Feb of 24. Too bad dealer trade in is thousands less and they use the tax savings excuse for it

I've got a 22 hybrid with 6500 miles on it. I don't see the updates as worth the extra cost. I owe $11k on mine. I'm waiting to see what this alleged $30k EV pickup looks like, and the possible next generation Maverick.

So you’ve had it with the dash rattle? That’s what’s driving you to Toyota?

Enjoy your Tacoma when the transmission grenades. Or enjoy your Tundra when the engine explodes…

I would not negotiate the trade in value with your dealer separately - just bury it in your Out The Door offer.

Calculate your OTD offer with the fair/high trade invisible to dealer. Dealer can take your OTD or you’ll walk - if you’re not desperate.

If you are desperate, you probably will end up paying too much.

Best to shop when you can’t lose by walking away & win by sticking to your low but acceptable(barely) OTD offer.

Edit…don’t include the $2k-$4k dealer add ons that “they already installed” in your OTD offer. Fair MSRP + Tax is a good base for your OTD. Some would even go for below MSRP + Tax only. Don’t pay dealer prep & doc fees etc in your OTD either:)

The pre-25 model front-ends look a whole lot better.
Unless you absolutely need an awd hybrid, use crummy gas and need the dual injection on the EcoBoost or need a 4k tow package, I'd pass and keep what you have. Truck owners don't really care what year it is.

Don't want a Tacoma or Tundra. Want a hybrid asi like the drive train but also want mpg.

We'll see what Toyota has to offer in the future.

My previous car I had for two decades pulled right all the time despite being aligned. When the Mav started doing it, it drove me over the edge. I lived with that so long I was finally happy to be free yet here we are again (hoping it's the axle).

But yes the rattles drive me up a wall.

I presume you are going to buy another hybrid? What model?

1. If buying another hybrid, I would consider the 2025 with decent year end prices. I would get their price and then show them Carvana or other online buyer the value of your trade which should be excellent. They will hit you with the sales tax pitch. Maybe give them the option of about $500 less. I just sold my 22MY for 26K and it appears Carvana sold it for about 29.9. There is plenty of meat on the bone for your dealer to make a good profit paying Carvana prices. There is not much of value added to the 26, in fact, depending on the model, some things have been removed.

2. If buying an EB and you do not need AWD, you may wait to 26. FWD will again be an option on XL and XLT models and 1K less if you do not get it.

3. I would not worry about turning in part of the warranty or going without one for five or six months if you order the 26. Your warranty fulfillment is due more to time than miles, so the odds of a problem are slim unless you have had a recurring problem.

4. I would venture a guess that with low mileage hybrid you should be able to make the trade for no more than 4K (possibly 5K) and a little tax you would pay if the trade is at the dealer. I sold my 22 with 28k and bought the 25 for $4500 but I had a $750 customer rebate and got employee pricing. My vehicle also did not have the mid-year price increase.

5. Join Farm Bureau and get the $500 certificate.

If you do not mind "playing the game", you can always decide to keep what you have if it has been good to you with the exception of recalls. If you go in with an open mind, you will get a better deal and hopefully, be satisfied however you decide.

Good Luck!👍
