The area around the lug nut holes isn't painted. It is very obvious with the dealer installed, that I didn't request, locking lug nuts. Even with the stock lug nuts there is unpainted rim that is visible. While it isn't very bad with chrome lug nuts, I plan on replacing the stock lug nuts, that are bad in winter climates, with black ones. The unpainted surfaces will stand out and be very obvious.

@Ozwaldthedog Are your rims the same? Or do any other BAP owners have the same issue?

I don't have the BAP on my Maverick but that's not surprising to me in the least. The wheels on both mine and my daughter's Mustangs are the BAP wheels and they are the same way.

I forsee this thread spiralling into the unpainted machine surface on the control arm shoulder post from last year lol you’re right i suppose. For anybody glaring at your rims from 6” or closer, this will be super obvious

I have the black rims with the FX4. I got black lug nut replacements and noticed the silver ring. So noticeable. It was a pain but I took the rims off, covered everything but the holes and painted them with high temp Rustolium. You have to be very careful to only get paint deep in the socket and no one will be able to tell unless the put their nose on the rim.

Just have to tighten the nuts up and loosen to remove paint where the nut sits.

Here is a before and after.

Mine looks the same but really hard to notice unless you get real close. I still have factory chrome lug nuts

I was going to say: Black Sharpie Pen.
May have to re-do every year.
But those caps are not bad either.

Requires tool to remove? Probably not.

Probably yes to take them off without damage.
No tools required to put them on or take them off. I've had them on for maybe a hundred miles so far, with some highway driving, and they haven't fallen off yet. To remove them you just pull on them with your hand. There is some resistance, but nothing that requires a tool.

I hated seeing the chrome lug nuts and these did the trick cheaply and easily.

Now how to hide the chrome around the Ford logo and the AWD letters on the tailgate... :)

Nice to see the wheel close up, I remember having a heated discussion with a member a while back who claimed these were still machine faced wheels. While yes, they are technically the same as the Lariat machine face wheels, these are the same minus the process of actually machining the face. You can tell because of the extrados on the spokes as opposed to a sharp transition from the machine face to the painted spoke. It's funny how much Ford cut out and then charged more for the BAP since actual machine face wheels would be more costly to manufacture than these. If these wheels were machine face they would have been painted black, then machined back down to the aluminum then clear coated after the machining.

Is it the 21-23 package? I see Maverick isn't listed, but a Ranger takes the 19mm instead. Looks like a great addition to my BAP.
Yes, 21-23mm, 25 pack is what I bought.
