Ive had 2 Honda CRVs, love the driving handling, but Hondas center dash & steering wheel controls are friggin maddening clutzes. Menus are straight up idiotic in Hondas, I had to keep pulling out the manual to remember where stupid features were hidden, & I had to constantly delete & re-pair my phone to the center console, it would just get stuck trying to answer calls hands free, especially if there were 2 of the paired phones both in the car together with Bluetooth enabled.

You just sort of tolerate the shitshow that is Honda center console because the interior & driving is nice. Once you get used to Sync 4 it would be a bit hard to go back to Hondas clusterfuck where you get in the car & youre phone is connected every single time, Google maps pops right up, as well as the last thing you were listening to.

If there was a way to install Sync 4 in a Honda...
My cousin has an Acura. I drove it to do some repairs. I had to pull beside the road to figure out the AC and radio. At first I wondered if it was simply because I'm used to Ford's. But I determined that it's genuinely confusing.

Looks like not until the end of 2027. The Maverick redesign will be coming out around the same time. I still don't think Ford has much to worry about.
How do you imagine/want for the redesign

I want at least 200hp out of the hybrid system, 5000lb tow capacity and a 5 foot bed!
Yup! Me also. But a deal breaker if I can't flat tow it. That is the only reason I'm driving a Maverick. We travel a lot and are not going back to pulling a Jeep.

You are most welcome! Would do it again if they needed this 70 year old, mean, crusty, convoluted, out of shape grouch! Kick the CO out the door to hold morning formation, while I drank more coffee and chewed out the new Lieutenants. Yeah, I like that.

And if it grows in size a little so be it! It will still be smaller than the Ranger.

I want more power, same fuel economy. I wouldn't mind extra to capacity. I think an extra length bed should be an option rather than standard. It would be interesting to see how many people would actually choose it.

Copy that, the life of a SNCO training and mentoring the young new officers, soldiers, Marines, airmen, seamen and junior NCO’s.
I spent the last 23 years of my nearly 40 year military career as a SNCO.
My guess is that your “out of shape” 70 year old body is still quite capable 🇺🇸.

It's still a bit speculative but Toyota's North American head of planning and strategy confirmed that they are going to make a compact pickup to finally compete with the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz.

The timing will be just right for many Maverick owners to replace their 4-5 year old trucks, with the new Toyota. Selling, or trading in value of a Maverick should be no problem. Making a hybrid Toyota truck for around 30K, I'll belive it, when I see it!

Thanks for your service also brother! You are correct, not really too bad of shape. Trained for a half marathon about 3 years back and completed several training runs over that distance. They canceled it because of the stupid covid. Back in my late 30's had a 2:57 full marathon. Don't run much now, but an occasional 5 miler. Walk with my two guard dogs 5-6 times a week 3-4 miles a time. View attachment IMG_4297.pdf

I believe that the Toyota will have to be substantially better than the Maverick in order for Maverick owners to switch because the vast majority of Maverick owners are happy with their truck. And the Maverick will probably be due for its first major refresh around the time the Toyota is truly ready or shortly thereafter. The new Toyota probably won't dethrone the Maverick. However I do expect the Toyota to be stiffer competition than Santa Cruz.

2028 Toyota Stout (?) and the Gen 2 Maverick will both start above 30K. The Slate truck will be very close to 30K without anything. Enjoy the price you paid for your Maverick, it will seem like a bargain in the next couple of years. You will be saying that about gas and goods also.
