Is 4k Towing Package Worth It

IMO its a no brainer to get the 4k Tow Pkg with your AWD EB or Hybrid powertrains. Even if you currently don't tow anything, things can change in the future where you would need it. Also, it will add resell value if you ever trade/sell. More folks would want that feature.

It was a no-brainer add for me. I tow some, but almost never more than the 2k could handle. But for $750 or whatever it is, why NOT get the extra wiggle room?

IMO, CoPilot is practically a necessary and super beneficial Safety Feature, IMO its nuts not to have that.
I assume your financing, spreading the 750 or 1500 out over the x years of financing is not going to affect the payment very much. Price a stripped version with your bare min, calculate the payments, then do the same with the recommended features, I betting it will be a minor difference in payments.
If your paying case what such a big deal of 750/1500 on a $38K truck

I didn't realize that. I already had it. Honestly, while I can see the wisdom in offering the XL without it, I'm surprised it's not standard on the XLT.

If you were already going to get AWD and CoPilot360, then sure since it's only an extra $745 on top. But if you were deciding between, say, a FWD and one with 4K tow, you're now adding $2,540 to $3,760 to the cost because 4K tow requires AWD and CoPilot360. I'd say that's solidly not worth it if FWD works for you.

Yup that is a good decision point. FWD or go full 4KT. However, I have not towed a damn thing in 50,000 miles. I use a hitch bike rack and hitch carrier and that's it. I have no plans to tow anything either so I absolutely don't need it, but could use AWD. I probably would not add the tow package because I simply don't need it. Adds cost, complexity and slightly reduces efficiency for something I don't use at all.

I'm at 1501 and I bet those 4KT builds are down around 1280 lb payload. I'll pass.

That very low price for my '23 build would have been $4000 extra on a 25.5k base price (private offer). For a 2026 FWD Hybrid XL it's about the same to add those 3 features. Now in '26 if want a turbo AWD version it must be XLT or above so 5-$6k more than base FWD.

I believe it's the extra weight of the AWD gear, and/or limits of that axle that gets you down a bit, not the 4K package.

Gotta draw your line in the sand somewhere. Otherwise the XLT Lux package is "only" $31.50 a month more. And a Lariat, which has adaptive cruise, is "only" $43 a month more on top of that. And now you're at a $41K Lariat when a $33K XL hybrid AWD might check all the "need" boxes. That $8k difference buys enough gas to drive the car more than 50,000 miles.

I was deciding between keeping an eye out for an XL or an XLT since the XLT is "only" $2,500 ($42 a month for 60 months) more. I drew the line at an XL because I wasn't getting anything that was a must-have for me. Only thing I sorta want are the bed cubbies but those are easy enough to add aftermarket, and definitely for less than $2,500.

As for CoPilot 360, IMO unless you really want blind spot monitoring and/or backup sensors and/or are getting an XL and want power mirrors, it doesn't add much value.

Without CP360, the car still has auto high beams, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, post collision braking, and pedestrian detection.

The extra cooling capacity widens the margin when you're running at one end of the bell curve, such as towing up a mountain pass when it's hot out. But realistically if you never tow, you'll likely not notice a difference in fluid or component life.

It's like saying that replacing the steelies on an XL with alloys will increase fuel economy, suspension life, and improve acceleration. Technically that's true. Realistically any improvement would likely be a rounding error.

My 2025 AWD XLT with the 2.0 EB is 1491 lbs. but I don't have the 4K Tow Package only the 2K and it came with a Hitch.

Thank you for this post. It's been a real headache working with the dealerships on pricing and packages. I keep hopping between EB and Hybrid and package vs no package.

The luxury package seems like but I could care less about heated seats or remote start. The only nice thing is the upgraded steering wheel but I can buy a aftermarket steering wheel cover.

4k towing keeps being mentioned as a "must have" and the only reason I am considering it is for the extra cooling, if it matters. I will never tow anything. This truck is strictly for throwing stuff in the back when needed and commuting everywhere. I work remotely, so I don't even drive to work.

Co-op 360 - again one of those nice to haves. The blind spot monitors would be nice I guess, but I've driven 24 years without them and have been fine.

It's just a tough decision. I'm getting otd prices for XLT Hybrid AWD models with 4k towing and co-op 360 for around 39k. Not sure if that's good or bad or if I should just save a few thousand and nix them both.

I just got my truck. I wouldn't have bought one without a tow package. I'll only note going down the road the possible resale opportunities. Uhaul uses a 4 pin set up so you are good there with an occasional use and no package but I'll be pulling our 16 foot Casita trailer. 7 pin and as towed likely 2400 lbs.

If it's a budget choice, do what you have to do to make it affordable to you which should be your first consideration.

That is exactly the same set up I bought last year except the SIBL.
I am looking for a tow behind camper and it was a no brainer to get the 4k package.
